r TWO MORE YEARS OF DEMOCRATIC RULE. Sheriff Reid Will Continue to Carry the Little Leather Satchel; Holmes Will Handle Our Finances, And Coggins Goes to Raleigh. What was feared to be one of the closest and tightest elections Washington Counly has ever had proved to be a veritable Demo cratic Landside. Grave fears were felt by the Democrats sev eral times during the campaign, and at one time during' election day things appeared -to be dis couragingly bilious, but persist ent work and the clean methods of the campaign caused Demo crats to rally to the flag superb ly. Two hundred and fourteen straight ballots were cast in Ply mouth Township against ninety eight Republican. The lowest majority in this precinct was 117 something unprecedented during the polictical life of the county. Sheriff Reid lead ticket by a majority of over two hundred, while Register of Deeds John ston and Tseasurer Holmes crowded that mark closely. The eleetion passed off quietly and friendly. Jacobs and Miss Lula Cahoon were the hostesses on Friday afternoon atthe home of Mrs. Jacobs at a very enjoy able linen shower- given in com pliment to Miss Agnes Speight, whose marriage to Mr. John Calvin Sanford will take place Nov. 23rd. Kewpie dolls pressed as brides were given as favors. After delicious refresh ments of fruit cocktail, a salad, course and ice course were serv ed, the guests departed shower ing the bride with confetti.
