TWO MORE YEARS OF
DEMOCRATIC RULE.
Sheriff Reid Will Continue to Carry the
Little Leather Satchel; Holmes Will
Handle Our Finances, And Coggins
Goes to Raleigh.
What was feared to be one of
the closest and tightest elections
Washington Counly has ever had
proved to be a veritable Demo
cratic Landside. Grave fears
were felt by the Democrats sev
eral times during the campaign,
and at one time during' election
day things appeared -to be dis
couragingly bilious, but persist
ent work and the clean methods
of the campaign caused Demo
crats to rally to the flag superb
ly. Two hundred and fourteen
straight ballots were cast in Ply
mouth Township against ninety
eight Republican. The lowest
majority in this precinct was 117
something unprecedented during
the polictical life of the county.
Sheriff Reid lead ticket by a
majority of over two hundred,
while Register of Deeds John
ston and Tseasurer Holmes
crowded that mark closely.
The eleetion passed off quietly
and friendly.
Below we give the majorities
in the respective precincts:
