Carter and family have returned from the west. Mrs. David Alexander of Cres well, is the guest of her sister, Mrs. Fannie Norman- Messrs. J. H, Smith. L. P. Hornthal, H. A. Blount and John Skittletharpe spent the past week at Norfolk. Dr. W. H. Ward and Mr. John ' Stocks returned on Sunday from Baltimore where they went to purchase horses.
