On the same train was Mx. J. H. Spruill also going to Williamston to at tend a party. Soon after their arrival there a telegram was sent to their families here announ cing their marriage. While this marriage had been for some time expected, it was nevertheless a surprise as the public had not been acquainted as to its date. Both parties are well known here, Mr. Spruill being proprietor of a popular cafe, and the bride being the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. W. Hardison. The bride and groom returned home Tuesday evening and have settled down to married life. - We extend congratulations to this popular young couplje. s A Grape Juice Plant. The Garretts, who for years aave been the principal, buyers oil our grapes, have purchased from Mr. D. 0. Brinkley that entire lot of land in South Ply mouth Mying between the At lantic Cost Line and Norfolk Sopthern Railroads and extend ing from Washington to JeiTer-, son Streets, and will at once erect thereon a large brick plant for the manufacture of grape juice. Eastern North Carolina is the home of the celebrated Scupp ernong grape, and the cultivation of this crop, which has Jong been recognized as a safe money crop b our people, will be given an impetus of no mean importance now that a ready market for un limited quantities has been brought right to our doors. We understand that this plant will be cea'dy for operation by the coming fall. Plymouth Brick Mills. This is no advertisement, nor has a write-up been askea for, but it is written only to call at tention to an asset of Plymouth which seems not to be generally known. We write it, not specially to benefit any one man or firm, but the county generally, In giving the intbrmation hop' thereby tj stimulate home industry, en- courage local patronage and to keep our money where it belongs in Washington 'County. It is a fact conceded by brick. making experts, that the cl'y found at the Plymouth Brick Plant is superior to any found anywhere else in this section of the state. The plant, equipped with the latest improved ma chinery and the brick burned in scientifically arranged coal burning kilns insures the very best of manufactured product, and with a capacity of 25,000 per day, this concern is prepared ;o take care of all local demands. Now, as we are at once to build a new Court House re- quiring about zuu.uuu oi una class of brick; the Garrett plant requiring 400,000; the Conklin mill and the new $15,000.00 Graded School building at Cres well, each needing an unknown quantity, if the contractors are alive to their best interests, and we are sure they are, or will be, we feel sure this plant will have si full vpnr's work ahead of it to take caret)f local orders. .... Court House to be Moved. The County Commissioners nlaced on sale the old Court House and vaults Wednesday, but owing to the great amount of labor and expense neces?ary to take them down and remuve the hi rK't bid- fo- both t ;-s only 115. tO Mr. E. J Conklin then made the following proposition, which was ccepted : They are to give him the old Court House and can continue to use tneui. In view of the fact that the county would have to pay about $750.00 in rents, to say nothing of the inconvenience, and loss of the vaults, which can be used to great advantage in the future, we consider this a most excel lent arrangement. With the exception of the Board oi" Education which ltirj moved to the Latham b;.iildinr next to.GaylOid's law ofiice, tho other Offices will' remain in the same building, wherever tty'.-; may be. ' ROPER NEWS. Mrs. Ida Blount is spending the week with friends in Ply mouth. Mr. C. S. Tarkenton of Skin nersville was married to Miss Laura Hull of Erie, Pa , at Find lev Lake, N. Y., Saturday morn ing, April lltli. H. M- Jacobs has been invited a longwith other prominent speak ers to address the meeting. The Junior class of Roper High School gave a banquet to the Seniors on Tuesday evening of this week, which was a motit delightful occasion. The rooms were tastefully decorated with dogwood and yellow jessamine, and the evening s enjoyment was interspersed with songs, readings, music and a play got ten up especially for tne occa sion.
