wheneyer there is anything that
vitally concerns them we do our
utmost to keep them posted a
long such lines.
There should be no confusion
in the minds of the people in re
gard to registration under the
new draft act. No man between
the ages set forth by President
Wilson has the privilege of non
registration! In this issue of the
Beacon will be found full and
complete information covering
the rules of registration together
tyith a reproduction of the regis
tration card. Our readers should

Colored Farmer Takes
Carbolic Acid.
On Saturday afternoon last,
T. Midgett, a colored farmer
living near here went to Mack
eys and entered the store of Mr.
J. J. Bunch, where he purchased
a bottle of carbolic acid.
Shortly afterwards he went
out in front of the store and
quietly reposed on a seat, and in
only a few minutes he passed
into the Great Beyond. No one
saw him drink the poison, but
the natural inference is that he
did. Several rumors have been
circulated, but nothing that
would give a reason for the sui
cide came out at the trial before
Recorder Swain on Monday.
.The proprietor of the store was
given a. hearing here Monday
mornirfg.Dut owmfc; to an absence
of incriminating evidence, the
case was 'dismissed.
; .Froxa information created by
the above hewing, a warrant
was issued against Mr. Bunch
lor semng ginger, this case
was immediately tried, the de
fendant found guilty and a fine
of f 10.00 and the co3ts of the
1 ji)
t
court imposed upon him.
