I THE ROANOKE BEACON C V. W. AUSBON Ej.to,.jpi,ii.h. c S- AUSBON PUBLISHED EVERY FRIDAY. Plymouth, N. C, Friday, June 8th, 1917. The registration in Wash ington County on Tuesday proves that there are no slacken here. From seven o'clock in the morning until nine o'clock at night a steady stream of young men, both white and black, patiently waited for their turn to come to answer the - call of their President, and if need be, fight for their flag and the cause of humanity. In Plymouth the crowd was orderly and quiet, yet by ex pressions made on every sde we do not believe there is a dozen here who will not wil lingly answer the call if they are selected to go to the front. Especially should the re gistrars be commended for their services, for they had a hard day of it, the six in Ply mouth working in the heat and mosquitoes until one o'clock at night. They were P. VV. Brinkley, J. W. Dar den, S. A. Ward, Rev. B. T. Hurley' J. K. Reid and Da vid Hurley, all of whom ser ved voluntarily, as did all the registrars in the county ex cept two, and only one man in the county charged for the room in which registration was held. Washington County has fully done its 'hit' and we feel pruodofits young man hood. (MmlKSOU77IEIW Operates passenger trains from North Carolina into term inal station Norfolk, without transfer, N. B.
