Pursuant to a Resolution adopted by the Boar ; of Aldermen of the lowli oi Columbia, state of North Carolina, at i special meeting oi' said Board held 'Tor that purpose on the day of No vember, 1917, it was resolved by tht said Board that they would recent bids at their regular monthly meeting to be held on the first Monday night in January, 1918, for the purpose ol establishing an electric lighting system in said town, which said Resolution can be seen on inspection of the Min ute Book of said town. A general out line of the specifications ior said light ing system as provided for in the said Resolution is as follows : A good crude oil engine of sufficient capacity to furnish light for the said town and its inhabitants, together with dynamo sufficient to generate current for aoproximately thirty street lights a.id approximately eight hundred lights for residences and business purposes with storage batteries sufficient to run said lights for twenty-four hours with out the engine ; switchboard, poles and wire sufficient to carry the cur rent into ah parts ot the said town, together witb brackets or arms for ap proximately thirty street lights, power house complete, ana an omer iixiures and appliances sufficient to provide a complete and sufficient lighting sys tem tor said town. It was nrovidedin the said Resolu tion that the Board could not consider any bids in excess of len lhousand Dollars. It was also provided in said Resolution that this notice should be published in the "Roanoke Beacon," a newspaper published in Washington uouuty, during tne mourn ui Decem ber. 1917. and that the Board would receive said bids at their regular moiilnly meeting the rirst Monday night iu January, 1918, at which time the bids will be openedand considered by the Board. The Board expresly rererves the right to reject any and all bids, this notice being given pursuant to Chapter 130, ot the Liws of 1917, relating to Cifies and Towns. The Board is unable to give specifi cations more in detail than the above but any further information desired can be gained by an inspection of the said Town and Resolution of the Board above referred to. The bids fubmit ted will be opened by the Board at the time above mentioned and such action taken thereon as the Board deems to the bet interest of said town, the Board reserving the right to reject any and all bids.
