Entered as second class mail matter at the Postofi'ice at Plymouth, North Carolina, under the Act *f March 3. 1887. __ FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 301927 We Need Boosters Every community has folk living in it who are out of accord with progressive steps and they are known as "knockers.' These are very selfish folk usually and are a source of much concern when they live in towns and cities. Some time ago a Chamber of Commerce in a southern community carried an ad in their home paper that had the following in a box: "When the Creator made all the good things there was still some un pleasant work to do, so he made the beasts and reptiles and poiso* nous insects, and when he had fin ished he had some scraps thac were too bad to be put into the rattle. snake, the scorpion, the hyena and the skunk, so he put all those to gether. covered it with suspicion, it with jealousy, marked it with a yellow streak and called it a KNOCKER “The product was so fearful tc contemplate he had to make some' thing to counteract it so he took a sunbeam, put it inlo the heart of a child, the brain of a man, anc wrapped these with civic pride covered it with brotherly love. gavt it a mask of velvet and a grasp ol steel and called it a BOOSTER “Made him a lover of fields flowers, manly sports, and mankinc a believer in equality and justice, and ever since these were made Mortal Man has had the privilege of choosing his associates—If you don’t like Plymouth and the people here—Get OUT—and go some where and boost IT.
