Mr. Williams is originally from Danville, Va.. and is now employed at the Norfolk Navy Yard. --- "Ace of Clubs” Bridge Club Meets Friday Evening Mrs. H. A. Liverman entertained the "Ace of Clubs” bridge club Fri day evening. Mrs. H. Marion Ramsey compiled high score and Mrs. W. C. Jones was runner-up. Mrs. Jones also received the bingo prize. Misses Ethel Perry and Nellie Tar kenton were visitors. A delicious salad course with cof fee was served. Joint Birthday Party Given Last Week Thomas Peed. 12, and Annie Bate man, 10, were honored last week at a joint birthday party given by their mothers. Mrs. Allan Peed and Owen Bateman at the home of the latter. The honorees received many nice gifts. Cake, candy, fruits and lemonade were served in the flower garden to the twenty guests who attended. Rasmusson was hostess to the Village Bridge Club on Tues day evening. Mrs. Blount Rodman and Mrs. Lloyd Owens were visitors. Mrs. A. Papineau won the high .'core prize and Mrs. L. J. Meunier Jr. was runner-up. Mrs. Owens receiv ed the visitor's prize. A salad course with coffee and cookies, was served. Literary Club Entertained By Mrs. W. M. Clark Mrs. W. H. Clark delightfully en tertained the Thursday Afternoon Literary Club on May 7. The entire lower floor of her home was decorat ed with lovely flowers. The club voted to buy a $25 bond in addition to a $100 bond previous ly bought. Mrs. W. H. Peele an nounced that the club would meet with her three weeks from that day. Members were urged by the president. Mrs. C. L. Blount, to sign up in the systematic bond buying campaign. Every member of the club was pres ent. Mrs. B. G. Campbell and Mrs. L. E. Hassell read interesting papers on “I Wanted to Be An Actress’’ by Katherine Cornell and “Letters to Mary", the story of Helen Hays, res pectively. A two course dinner was served in the dining room. Mesdames Walter Clark, Mattie Swain and Ned Swain were visitors. Womans Society oi Christian Service The Woman's Society of Chirstian Service of Pleasant Grove met in Plymouth at the home of Mrs. J. C. Swain with Mrs. T. B. Bell as joint hostess. The rooms were attractive with bowls of lovely roses. Mrs. W. B. Chesson presided open ing the meeting with prayer. Mrs. W. W. White read the minutes and Mrs. Effie W. Gurkin rendered the financial report: $3.90 in dues were paid. Mrs. W. B. Chesson gave a talk on Christian social relationship and making the society efficient, stress ing the attractiveness of Christian living, Mrs. J. C. Tarkenton led the wor ship service, and sponsored the pro gram. The subjects being "Suffer the Little Children to Come Unto Me’’ and “Children of Our Church”. Mrs. Ella Waters, Mrs. W. W. White and Mrs. J. C. Swain took part in the reading. The hostesses served iced lemon ade and wafers. The next meeting will be with Mrs. J. C. Tarkenton. -- Mrs. E. D. Keel Is Hostess To Club Mrs. E. D. Keel was hostess to the Friendly Eight Bridge Club on Wednesday evening. Mrs. Roscoe Gaylord was high scorer and Mrs. James Smith second high. Mrs. Eddie Getsinger won the bingo prize. Sandwiches and iced drinks were served. Miss Emily Waters was a guest. -<$> Miss Nancy Bateman Entertains Bridge Club Miss Nancy Bateman entertained her bridge club on Thursday evening, serving a dessert course prior to the game. Mrs. L.
