June 6 in Elizabeth City. The bride wore a dress of navy blue with navy aceesories. Her cor sage was of red rose buds. Following the wedding the young couple went to Norfolk where they, with a group of their friends, had dinner at a hotel, going from there to their apartment at 844 W. 43rd street in Norfolk. Mr. Davenport is a traveling sales man for a coffee company in Norfolk. Spruill, jr., of Roper, in a lovely ceremony Saturday morning at 9 o'clock in the Plymouth Methodist Church. The officiating minister was the pastor, the Rev. O. L. Hardwick. Perns formed the background for tall candelabra holding white tapers and baskets of white lillies and fever few. The nuptial music was played by Shep Brinkley. Matt White Norman, young cousin of the bride, sang “O Perfect Live ", The church choir rendered The Bridal Chorus from "Lohengrin”. ‘ To A Wild Rose” was played during the ceremony and the nsed. Tiie bride and the bridegroom en tered the church together. The bride wore a suit of powder blue with navy accesories, her corsage was of pink rose buds. Car ver in Jackson, Week-End Guest Here Paul Shuford, of Lincolnton, now of the U. S. Navy stationed at Cape May, N. J., was the week-end guest of Miss Barbara Norman. In Tarboro Last Week Mrs. D. J. Hudson and daughter, Betty, spent last week in Tarboro. -1 Miss Norman Honored At Tea Wednesday Mrs. Z. V. Norman and Miss Bar bara Norman honored Miss Virginia Norman, who was married to Edgar L. Spruill, of Roper, Saturday, at a lovely tea, Wednesday afternoon from 4 to 6 o'clock. The hostesses with Miss Norman, bride-elect and her mother, Mrs. J. S. Norman greeted the guests. Arrangements of magnolias, gar denias and multi-colored flowers were used in the living room. A color scheme of pink and white was carried out in the dining room. A double arrangement of pink and white larkspur in crystal bowls cen tered the table, which was covered with an Italian cut work cloth. Pink and white tapers, entwined with fern, burned in silver holders at the ends of the table. Mrs. H. H. McLean invited guests into the dining room where iced drinks were served by Mrs. S. A. Ward and decorated cakes, dainty sand wiches, salted nuts and mints were served by Misses Claudia and Camille Burgess, Miss Emily Brinkley and Mrs. J. W. Norman Mrs. H. A. Williford and Mrs. R. W. Johnston rendered piano music for the occasion. The hostess persented to Miss Nor man, a pair of crystal candle hold ers in the tear drop pattern. Between 50 and 60 people called during the afternoon. beth City and Frank Brinkley, of Plymouth. Immediately after the ceremony the couple left on a trip to western North Carolina. Mrs Spruill is the daughter of Mr and Mrs. J. S. Norman, of Plym outh. She attended Louisburg Col lege and a business College in Rich mon and is now employed in the cle rical department of the North Caro lina Pulp Company here. Mr. Spruill is the son of Mrs. Ed gar L Spruill, sr . and the late Mr. Spruill, of Roper. He is a graduate of Wake Forest College and is em ployed as a chemist at the North Ca rolina Pulp Company. Out of town guests who attended were: Mrs. Edgar L. Spruill and Mrs. Warren Cahoon. of Roper; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Weeks and Mr. and Mrs R. R. Everett was honored at his home on May 31st, the fifty-forth anniversary of his birth, at a picnic dinner, with all of his children pres ent.
