HANDLING OF U. S. TROOPS WAS BEST IN ALL HISTORY MR. CALDWELL LEAVES; SUCCEEDED BY MR. VANCE A. H. Caldwell, trainmaster and roadraaster of the Transylvania division of the Sonth«irn railway, lef(. Monila.y for Tncson, Arizona, where Mrs. Caldwell is now resid ing on account of her health and who is steadil.v improving. Mr. Caldwell will be connected with the Southern Pacific railroad and will make his home iKjrnianently in the west. Mr. Cttldw’ell has heen on the Trans.ylvania division for nine .vearei and has made man.y friends who will regret to learn of his de parture, which he deems advisable on account of the fact that physi cians advise Mrs. Caldwell to remain in the west. T. Vance of Asheville, 'who iilled the vacancy made by Mr. ( aldwell last summer when ho was injured by falling from a trestle, has been transferred to Brevard to assume the work of Mr. Caldwell. Mr. Vance and family are to occupy the cottage of D. L. English. From Our Friends GLOUCESTER NEWS (Too late for last week.) Had a nice box supper at the Robison school house Saturday night to buy the girls white dresses for the school entertainment. Mrs. Robison and son visited her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Otho (Jallo- WttV, Saturday and Sunday. Mrs. Ernest Allen is improving slowly in health. Ernest Allen spent Monday in Brevard. Mr. Corn preached ao excellent sermon Sunda.v at Shoal creek. He made the people think of their sins. Mr. Green is working hard to got money to build a church at Shoal creek. Miss Matilda McCall w*ent w’ith the Kobinscm girls Sunday ev>ning to (’athevs creek. The chostnut wood is on a boom on Indian creek. Lots of visitors frotn Pine Grove at Shoal crec'k Sunday.
