Editor, NeVs:
Every one who has given the
matter any thought must see and
know the duty before each of us :
to conserve the resources of our
country in this time of trouble.
Our president is asking that
every farmer accept as his patriotic
duty the raising of as large a crop
as i)ossible; and we who are not
farmers must do our share and
plant gardens.
Will not all who have vacant
lots put them under cultivation or
allow them to be used by others
who are willing to make gardens?
In that way the town will take a
great stride toward self-support,
and also make a cleaner and more
thrifty appearance.
If each community in the United
States could bo practically self-
supporting during the coming sum
mer and winter our country could
then give, of her abundance, to the |
allies, and be of greater help than
if two hundred thousand men were
sent to the battle front.
Elizabeth Mount Silverstkin,
President Brevard Betterment As
sociation.
