BREVAUD NEWS, EREVARD, N. 0. Brevard^s Big Demand For Houses ERECT ONE THE BUILDING AND LOAN WAY Somebody is going to hear the knock of opportunity and erect some houses. The privilege is yours. Why will you not accept it? The Building and Loan is ready to help you. Come in and let us explain its plan of business fully and we feel sure you will see it is the very thing you need. Kliniiiiatiou of waste in hii,'li\vay management and prevention of loss of Brevard has very few houses for rent. Those now rent- 11 ing are bringing good prices. The tannery and belt plant will create a big demand for houses ranging in price from $1,000 to $1,500. The big number of employes with families will need homes. They must have them. Why wouldn’t it be a wise thing for you to take a few shares of building and loan and erect a home either to live in or to supply the unusual demand to be made so soon? The fact that the Brevard Building and Loan Associa- on has helped about 100 of its members to build houses is niclusive proof that it is a fine thing, a great friend to the ; boring man who makes small weekly savings. You pay 11 only 25 cents a week on each share you subscribe for. ■' .'v ■- OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO O O O ARGUMENT FOR GOOD ROADS O o o 0 Most Jirginneiits f«)r road itn- o O i»rovenient.s an aid in truus o O iiorting farm (>ro«lncts are Itasfd o O on hauliii.^ grain, cotton, tiuil»er o o and »lher heavy materials, says o O tlio Amerian Highway ass*M-ia- o O tion. Where in limes I'ast a few farmers with teams wen- •cattered alon;; the lane, cngaircd it. .scraping ditches and tilling up dei»rcs sions. regular construction gangs are now at work, not merely on one lane, but throughout entire counties. Before actual construction begins lit tie narrow gauge railroads are usuall.\ built along the country road, and ma terial. such jis cement, sand and crus'.i etl stHie, is raiudly transp, rted from tlie railway freight station to points where the roadl»ed is being laid. This material, measured to right proi'.ortion is loaded in dump cars and drawn by doidioy engines to machines, wiiere it is mixed into a quaky mass and tliere spread over the road. As constrtiction extends out into tlie eonnty the dinky railways, as tliey are called, are ex tended until tlie entire system of main market roads has been covered. The county highway engineer or snperin teudent is usually supplied by tlie county with an automobile, and lu^ makes the rounds of the entire sectioti each day, visiting districts in which construction is under way.
