PAGE CALLS UPON DEALERS TO REFRAIN FROM ORDERING FURTHER FLOUR FROM OUTSIDE MILLS—“NORTH CAROLINA HAS HER SHARE." Buy From the Merchant Who Advertises. Kaloijrh-—Furthar impor’afions of tlour into North Carolina until the next harvest are in eff(*ct forlvidden by State Food .\Jministrator Henry A. Page. The practice of flour cons-i valion in North Carolina has been so general, and ihe saving so great, that a large number of the small mills which have here tofore been able only lo supply the immediate conimunities have accumulated ronslderable quantities of flour which is available for shipping to other mar ket*. It is the purpose ot Mr. Page to divrrt this flour to those markets m Korth Carolina which have heretofore imported flour from the larger mills outside the .State, which, almost without e.xc-efition. are in position to pack flour for export and supply the demands of the Army and Navy and oar Allies. The F'ood Administration will assist in bringing together those mills which have flour for sale and the dealers In othor sections of the State who desire to purchase it. Mr. Page’s statement inaugurating the new plan Ib as follows; "Based on the total supply in the ITnited States for home consumption, and considering the decreased consumprion by our people, there is within the borders of North Carolina our share and more of flour. 'I'his b6ing true, 1 am calling on the wholesale and retail men hants of North (.Carolina to retrain from sending furth^r orders for flour to milLs outBide of .North Carolina. The larger mills which have been accustomed to ship tremendous quantities of flour into North Carolina are most cl the/n close to export points and uU of them are in position to pack fl( ur for export. Where merchants in some parts of North ('arolina could s ure Hour from outside mills cheaper than they cati from North Carolina ii 's which have tlour available. 1 am going to aak them to take the home floi.:• e>en at a higher prii'e. “I do not pretend to say th.a there is sufficient tlour In North Carolina to ■apply anything like thc^ normal demand. What I do mean to say is that if we are to supply our Allies with the quantity they must have, we have as much flour in North Carolina as are entitled to and as much in proportion M th« people of any ether State or stH;tion—and we have no right to more.” Mr. Page’s request to flour dealers to -efrain from purchasing flour out- ■ld« the State ib not an order but it is very clearly indicated in the office of the Food Administration that all dealers will be expected to comply with the reguest and that any disregard of the request will be looked upon wiiL extreme disfavor by the Food Administration. ^5^ ComUiA- 'vvvcyvv/ ^ ^ ^ j| V. AUDITORIUM SATURDAY, JUNE 15 William Fox presents Jewel Carmen in ii THE GIRL WITH THE CHAMAPAGNE EYES" The play opens on ship board passing out o- the Golden gate, San Francisco and takes one to the mining camps and trading posts of the far North, Civilization did nothing to improve Nellie Proc tor. It took the cold, barren north to bring this girl from a life of crime to one of u^omanly regarc tor others. Only when she saw^ an innocent man sutferin». for her crime does the good womanly traits come t( the front. Great care was given to make real this scene ir which men from the known world met men fror that which was unknown.
