John Fisher who. has been home for a few weeks, with friends after a few months service in France— left Thursday for Nashville Tenn. ■ Mrs. Charlie Lee of Toxaway visit ed her sister, Mrs. Frank Fisher of Brevard, last week. Bom—^to Mr. and Mrs. Claud Beid last week a son. Ulysses Thrift of Pisgah Forest was a visitor in Toxaway last week having just returned home from Franiee. The Toxaway Baptist Sunday school no. 2 organized March 30th and is progressing nicely having an enrollment of 56. Mrs. J. A. Breedlove has been on the sick list but is recovering. Arnold Brown of Pisgah Forest was in our burg last week. » Barney Chapman was a visitor in our scction Sunday. Jessie Breedlove, Robert McKinna, Ford Reid, and Fred Hall went to Oak Grove to Sunday School Sunday af ternoon and report a nice time. Mrs. Lee Norton went to Brevard Saturday. .Miss Sue Heath, who is teaching school at Oakland, went to Brevard Saturday, returning Sunday. The cold weather last week seems to have killed most all the peaches and plums of this section. Robert McNeely is with his father after serving for some time on the battle front in France. Mrs. McNeely is with him. There was a house cleaning at the Toxaway Baptist church Saturday. The floors and windows look much improved as well as other accomplish ments. Quite an excitement prevailed in Toxaway Monday, March 31 when two buildings were totally destroyed by fire, one being the Lawrence Mor ris cottage and the othdr the Miller boarding house, built and once known as the D. T. Gillespie building. Miss Dainie Nicholson of Sapphire was in our section last w^eek. Mr. and Mrs. Wade Garren have moved to the Kinsland house. Chas. Bryson of Sapphire was in Toxaway Saturday. Lee Nicholson has returned home after ten months in France. Many gardens are being planted in Toxaway now and much farming is planned. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Chapman and family were in Toxaway last Sunday. Somebody says that the slackers have quit burning the woods. They have a reason. Most all of the woods have been burned over. The Weed and Webb Contractors, who are grading the Moltz Ry., hope to get done in a few days. Dr. Wallis of Brevard was in Tox away Sunday. With best wishes for the News. A TOXAWAIAN. Miss Bertha Glazener left Satur day ^loming for an extended visit to Williamston, S. C. Little Josephine Jordan, 8 months old, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. H.
