Cassidy for holding a three day meet ing at the Brevard Institute from July 29 to 31 for the club members and other boys and girls in the coun- ty- This is the first meeting of this kind ever held in the county and it promises to be an interesting as well as instructive meeting. A number of specialists have already been secured from the Department of Agriculture at Raleigh to give lessons in agricul ture, stock raising and domestic science. CULLUM ADDRESSES BRE VARD AUDIENCE A large audience at the Baptist Church last Sunday morning had the privilege of hearing an address by Dr. Cullum, of the faculty of Wake Forest College. This was Dr. Cul- lum's first visit to Brevard and those who had the pleasure of hearing his lecture Sunday morning are hoping ! that it will not be his last one. The j speaker talked along the lines of I world reconstruction and warned his hearers in convincing terms that though the Germans had signed the Peace Treaty America's work in help ing to make the world a safe place to live in had just begun. Jennin^ will take notice that a summons in the above entitled action was issued against the said defendant on the 23rd day of June, A. D. 1919, by the Clerk of the Superior Court of Tran sylvania County, North Carolina, and that an action entitled as above has been brought by the above named plaintiff against the said E. H. Jen nings to recover damages for a breach of contract on the part of said defen dant, and to recover damages for the negligence of the defendant by reason of which breach of contract and neg ligence certain real estate and prop- perty of the plaintiff situated in Tran sylvania County, North Carolina was injured and damaged by the said de fendant, and also that said action is brought for the purpose of compelling defendant to rebuild and restore a cer tain dam in Transylvania County and the lake formed by said dam, usually known and referred to as “Lake Tox- away,” and also to maintain the same, which said dam was necessary and useful to the plaintiff, and in which the plaintiff claims certain property rights, that said defendant is a proper party to said action which relates to real estate situated in the County of Transylvania and State of North Car olina and said defendant will further take notice that he is required to ap pear at the next term of Superior Court of Transylvania County, North Carolina, to be held on the 6th Mon day before the first Monday in Sep tember, 1919, at the Court House in said County, and answer or demur to the complaint in said action or the plaintiff will apply to the Court for the relief demanded in said complaint. The defendant will also take notice that warrant of attachment was issu ed from the Superior Court of Tran sylvania County, North Carolina, on the 23rd day of June, 1919, against the property of said defendant which said warrant is returnable at the time and place above named for the re turn of the summons in said cause. Tinsley of Brevard in County of Transylvania and State of Nortii Carolina in said district, respectfully represents that on the 16th day of May, last past he was duly adjudged bankrupt under the acts of Confess relating to bankruptcy; on his own petition filed May 14, 1919, that he has surrendered all his property and rights of property, ani fully complied with all the requirements of said acts StiHOOL BONDS OFFERED FOR SALE, Brevard, N. C. Catheys Creek district number three school bonds, for sale 30 days after date. On the date of June 11 last past Catheys Creek school district number three, Catheys Creek Township, Tran sylvania County, N. C. voted a $10, 000.00 bond issue under the “State wide Bond Act For School Buildings.” The issue is to run not exceeding 20 years from date of bond issue. The tax levy is not to exceed 15 cents on the $100.00 valuation of property and 45 cent^ on each taxable poll in said district. A sinking fund will be provided in order to pay the bonded indebtness in fulll at the expiration of twenty years. The assessed val uation of the district is approx imately $1,000;000.00. The popula tion of said district is approximately 1,000 people. The district carries no other bonded indebtness. The principal and interest of the said bond issue are to be paid at a place agreed upon. As the law provides the rate of interest cannot exceed 6 per cent payable semi-annually. It is desired to sell bonds at as low a rate of interest as possible. Accrued interest on the bond issue desired with as high a premium as the bidder can afford to give. The bond issue is to be dated June 11 last past. Please submit your bids in writing to the County Superintendent of Public Instruction for acceptance ■ or rejection by the County Board of Education of Tran sylvania County, N. CAMP FRENCH | BROAD OPOft Camp French Broad, one of the first boys’ camps to be established here, has just opened its sixth season with the largest enrollment in its history. This camp is yearly becom- ming one of the most popular insti tutions of its'kind in the south. Its faculty comes from the Citadel Aca demy of Charleston, S. C. and the stu dents represent schools of the highest standing in all parts of the country. The camp this year has been enlarged, a new baseball diamond and several new tennis courts have been added. The camp fleet has several new boats and it is probably that a number of boat races and other water contests will be put on during the summer.
