He surely was bom on an unlucky ,day, or the «ta»s^ vi^e, not right at th6 time, or’the univekM was failing to function, or it might have bieen on Friday the 13th, on which ^at event occurred. The election was stolen by a cocoanut headed fellow by the name of Zeb Weaver, and by that steal the republicans, could ndt organiw Oon- ess. It was worse thra a ishataie, it was a calamity. Beat by the thieving democrats, en dorsed by the whole white republican machine. Become famous for being beaten by Weaver, and the republi cans having as a slogan: “Remember Britt and the Buncombe County Election Fraud. And after all these calamities have befallen him ^e Presi^ dent won’t appoint him as judge. '' President Garrfen Oamelial, has f6r grotten'the days of 1892, 1894, and 1896,{ when CoL Jaines H. Young, congressman Geo. White, although he was black or yellow or a mulattd, came to the rescue of the republican party, and brought the State from the slough , of democracy and cstab- iishc4. equal rights to all creeds, clas ses,; colors and previous conditions of servitude;' The republican senate • refused to con^^ the noininatioh of democrat eietujbive committee Oyarren i» dis trict attorney, becaiise r^Used to allow some few negroes to vote, Bor ah, Hell Roaring Hinm Johnson, and a few northern and western' colored folks lovers, are now trying to hold up the nomination^ of the Hon Frank Linney, as District Attorney because he did the same thing that Chairman Warren did, and writing letters to Chairman Warren asking him to co operate with him to keep the negro from voting. Thereby keeping him down and out of politics. Poor Negro he is without a place to lay his weary head. He is like some wag has said. *‘He has no pride of ances try, or hope of posterity”. In by gone days he w^as fed on the fat pf the republican lands, h$ sto<^ hifi^ in the council chambers. Goo4 fftt officcs was tendered to him and he ac cepted them. Now they claim the only way to carry the solid South re publican is to eliminate him from poli tics. Big fat juicy letters are being written each day to the head quarters of the G. 0. P. begging and implor ing them to give the negro a red eye' as they can’t give him a black one. It is down right cruel to do him as some of the Southern republicans are trying to do him, after he has held them up so many times and asks noth. ing only a few crumbs from the re publican table. I remember years ago a certain re- publican was the whole cheese in Transylvania County, would furnish a pig and a keg of good corn liquor, that had a taste too good ^ poor man to have, that would tickle ^e palate, and make you fe$^ like you had one foot on the North Pole and the other one in the Reo Grand and all under you was yours. I would most hit a poor negro if t thought he felt that good now. They would have a barbecue the. nig^ before, and he would march his ^colored brethren twtfby two to the poles 4md vote them the straight republican ticket. A land slide like we had during the late flood couldn’t have stopped them. Those were the days, we have none like them in this good year off 1921. Turn back the ruthless hands of time twenty odd years or ^o and make us have and enjoy our selves as our daddies did. COS PAXTON. rawing aDii Painting in the Summer School will be tausht by Mrs. F.
