The BrevaVd News: < Foreign Advertising Representative THE AMERICAN PRESS ASSOCIATION FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 1921 SCHOOL BOYS PATRIOTIC; The High School boys, under the supervision of Miss Tyner, equipped the high flag pole at the school with a new rope and raised a beautiful, large American flag, on Tuesday last. To put in the new rope it was necessary for one of the boys to climb the pole to the top and place the rope through the small pulley wheel, 75 feet from the ground. This was rather a hazardous undertaking but one of the boys scaled the pole with ease. The High School boys, so Miss Tyner states, are the best in the world and “can do anything”. PROCLAMATION BY MAYOR MITCHELL The, citizens of Brevard are ar ranging a program for ARMISTICE DAY, Nov. 11, to show the returned soldiers how much the people ‘'back home” appreciate their services— their sacrifice—during the World War, and also to give the people of Transylvania County a holiday and a grand good time that will be long remembered. There will be a parade never epual ed in Brevard by the schools of the town and county, and by the various organizations. There will be speak ing by orators well known the county over. There will be a barbecue — with all the best. “trimmings”— ample to feed the multitudes. The soldiers are especially invited to join in the parade and feel that they are most heartily welcome to every pleasure > that the town can possibly afford them. Their gallant services and sacrifices is the inspir ing feature of the whole c|itertain- ment. Come one and come all. Lay aside you business for the day, and come to Jrevard and witness and take part . the greatest celebration ever hel^ .:i Transylvania County. Come an^ i. .ve one royal good time —the best . of you life, and help everybody e: e to have a good time. As Mayor of the city I cordially extend the keys of the city to the good citizens of Transylvania—one and all—and urge all to come to Bre vard on Nov. 11th. Don’t forget the services at the Court House. T. M. Mitchell, Mayor ditions of roa- . / ov* ^rouuced a n... ::al aaj aflic p,r .1 wiil i. ' Brevard. • •i>roii.. S. A Texas has th’"'; notice concerning his work in one of the cities of thaf^great state:— Mr McCravy is one of the best choir directors it has ever been our privi- lige to hear . He is also a great solo ist, and there is something about his solos and the singing of them that get all tangled in your heart sting.” The“ State-times,” Baton Rouge, La. contained some time ago these appre ciative words concerning ;hdm:— “Every one enjoys the solo of the sweet-voiced McCravy, as well as the masterful way in which he conducts the chorus and leads the audience in the song service.” Dr. John Jeter Hurt, pastor of the First Baptist Curch, Milmington, N. C., says this ;—“McCravy is excep tionally fine. He is the best leader of a junior choir I have ever seen. He is a personal worker of untiring zeal. His wife plays the piano with marvelous skill. We shall want them again.” ' Mr. Smith considers himself, his congregation, and the entire com munity most fortunate in being able to secure this talented and consecra ted couple to have charge of the mu sic during the series of meetings, and he urges upon the singers of the choirs of the other churches in Bre vard that they occupy seats on the platform with the regular choir of. the Baptist church and assist in the music. There will be two services a day during the meeting, and the hours will be held by way of preparation for the meetings. This week the meetings will be held in the follow ing hom^s: ' Mr. A. E.
