H. Howard. Mr. Howard is the su
perintendent of the cotton mills at
that place, and has a summer home
on Broad street. Part of the day was
spent in looking and going through
the beautiful flower gardens of Mr.
Hays, president of the mills, which
cost thousands of dollars and were
equal in beauty to the Magnolia Gar
dens of Charleston, S. C.

| A most enjoyable affair of Sunday
took place at the home of Mr. ana
Mrs. Dan McCrary of Mud Creek
when their children and grandchil
dren and other relatives with baskets
of good eats came and gave Mrs. Mc
Crary a surprise dinner, it being her
birthday. She is now 73 years of
age. The dinner was served picnic
style under the pines.

ton, Mr. A. J. Hamilton, Mr. and Mrs.
Zander McCrary and children, Mr.

Crab Creek church, who made a very
impressive prayer. The occasion was

they enjoyed a picnic dinner cooked

tures and otherwise enjoying the day.

in the afternoon.
