SCOUTING The Girl Scouts of America have I high and honorable principles, for J their organization and their aims point to ideal Christian lives fori American Girls. The purposes and qualities of the | Girl Scouts of America may be found I in the following article, written by, one of the Girl Scouts of the Brevard j troop, Miss Jane Pearce. The true meaning implied by the 1 term "Scouting," is more accurately | [represented by the expression used by | our British sisters ? "Guides." The I primary purpose of Scouting is to endow a girl with the admirable char acteristics that produce a woman who is a good and helpful comrade to her brother or husband or son along the pathway of Life. To guide her fam ily in the virtuous walks of life is the visionary ideal of every true girl and woman. Therefore, the members ! of this organization, besides being 1 handy and ready for any kind of T\ V THE FIRESTONE TIRE & RUBBER CO. ^ ---and McCRARY TIRE & BATTERY SERVICE Extend to all the compliments of the season with sin cere wishes for a Merry Christmas and a New Year that will bring to you the very best of all good things. McCrary Tire & Battery Service FIRESTONE ONE -STOP SERVICE THE CHRIS TiCHILD . , f While shepherds wt.(eh iHtflr flocks of sheep : c- ' One calm and silent r^ght, ? v A brilliant star shone In the east And guided by its light Three Wise Men from a distant land Inspired by rumors new, Traveled many, many weary miles To learn if they were true. When the long, long quest was ended Upon a bed of hay, They found the Child, the Holy One Who reigns supreme today. V t And when they saw this wondrous 1 Babe Of whom so much was said, They laid their treasures at His feet, I And knelt beside His bed. They worshipped Him, this little 1 Child | To Whom all power was given, This Prince of Peace, this King of Kings, And now we're soon to celebrate The birth of Him whom we Should love and serve with all our I hearts I Through all eternity. ?KATE GRAHAM \ duty, are also a jolly, happy family 1 and likely to be good, cheery compan- j ions to their mankind. As Scouting is a voluntary require ment, Girl Scouts depend on them selves to obey their motto, slogan and laws because it is their earnest desire , to perfect themselves by conscientious , endeavor. Since Scouting provides a well-rounded education, Girl Scouts are prepared for every emergency, problem or crisis that may confront them. Armed with a wililngness to j work, a feverish desire to serve their . fellow-beings and the assurance that their undertakings will be successful, i the Girl Scouts resolutely face the uncertainty of the future, determined'; to do their bit for home, country and ; God. To embody in them the necessary qualities for a useful life, they have competent leaders. Due to wide ver- j satility and experience coupled with a cheery, hopeful disposition, Miss Ethel McMinn constitutes a capable lieutenant. Although she possesses j inestimable wisdom, her youthful en- ; thusiasm endears her to every mem ber of the troop. Despite the fact that Miss Lillian Jenkins is comparatively new in this field, it is obvious that she is well adapted to this work. Not only is she extremely earnest and untiring in her efforts but also kind and sympathetic toward Scouts in theirs. As her tal ent in music is a boon to Scouting that cannot be overestimated, it will surely tend to the general betterment of he vccal abilities of the Girl Scouts. : IDEAL GIFT !
