I A cloud of gloom hovered over this community Thursday morning as the news of Mrs. Bessie Geneive Kennon's death was being carried from door to door. She was born in Kennedy, N. y., August 22, 1895, and departed this life at the home of her mother, Mrs. Emma Colburn, Thursday morn ing January 7, 1932. She was the daughter of Edward Wright and Mrs. Emma Colburn, and was 37 years and a few months old, at the time of her death. She was married to Robert Whitmire ip 1912, to which union two children were born, Eva and Robert. Mr. Whitmire, who was connected with the Southern Railway, was killed in 1915, and she married Ira C. Ken non in 1920. For a number of years she had to suffer quite a bit, but she always bore ; her suffering very patienty, but dur- | ng September she became very low and all her loved ones were called to : her bedside, but she lingered between | life and death for three months. Everything loving hands could ad minister, or the art of medical science , could effect, was done to alleviate the I terrible suffering which she exper ienced, but all was of little or no I avail until of the Angel of Death re- j lieved her of all pain and misery, j Mrs. Kennon bore a kind and lov- ; ing disposition wherever known. Always looking toward the sunny 1 side of everything. While her depart- j ure has brought a shadow over the I :ommunity there is sunshine in the ? C., who died at his home on January first, was received here Mon day. Mrs. Wuellborn, who was .before her. marriage, Miss Belle Fisher, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. W. 0. Fisher, a resident of this county for a number of years. Ralph R. Fisher, is Mrs. Wuellborn's brother. The young boy was buried at the Temple Hill Methodist Church in Wilkes County. Mrs. L. W.
