DANCE IS SUCCESS A large number of Brevard's dance lovers gathered at the Waltermire Grill on last Monday evening when the Business and Professional Wom-j en's Club acted as sponsors for the dance. Music was furnished by Bob Timson and his orchestra, the music being unusually good. The entertain ment for the evening was planned by a committee headed by Mrs. Flax Lawrence and the success of the dance was credited to their splendid efforts. FIRST OF A SERIES OF SALAMAGUNDI PARTIES FRIDAY The first of a series of three Sal amagundi parties to be given on suc cessive Fridays for the benefit of the St. Philips church will be held at the Joines Motor Co. Friday evening at 8 o'clock. Tickets may be purchased at the doer or may be obtained from any of the members of the St. Philips Guild, under whose auspices the parties are to be held. An admission fee of 35 cents will be charged for each party or a ticket for three parties may be bought for SI. 00. Everyone is invited to attend all three of the parties and make up their own tables of any game they wish to play. PINNACLE CAMP BOYS VISIT EAGLE'S NEST About twenty boys from Camp Pinnacle, Hendersonville, paid a visit to Camp Eagles Nest, Saturday even ing. They brought with thera their nine piece dance orchestra and a gay time was had by both camps. The possibility of such a visit had been rumpred and the girls had dec orated the lodge in the camp colors, blue and white, tennis racquets, and greens from the woods. It was with great reluctance that the guests took their departure about 10:30. HOUSE GUESTS HONORED WITH WEEK-END CAMPING TRIP Miss Eloise Sheppard and Miss Edna Kennerby of Asheville, the house guests of Mr. ard Mrs. D. Grimshawe were honored with a week end camping trip at the Grimshawe cabin near Toxaway. The party left for Toxaway Friday and returned Sunday. Those enjoying the week-end hik ing, swimming and other sports were Misses Sheppard and Kennerby and Miss Corielia Rachford of Asheville, Richard and Patsy Grimshawe, Rufus Ovr, Mack Allison and the chaper ones, Mr. and Mrs. D. Gramshawe. MISS BROMFIELD HONORS GUEST One of the most enjoyable of the midsummer parties was the dance given by Miss Sherrill Bremfield on last Wednesday evening, honoring her guest, Mrs. Walter W. The meeting was well attended and much interest was shown in the pro gram that was given. REGULAR MEETING OF B. P. W. IS SOCIAL Being entirely social in nature the regular meeting of the Business ind Professional Women's Club was held last Thursday evening at Sea shore, the summer home of Mrs. Mary Jane McCrary. Mrs. McCrary was hostess to the club members, and an evening filled with various forms of entertainment was enjoyed by the guests. There was a rather small audience but the members made a good hit in successfully presenting the play. BANK ROBBERS GET AWAY WITH FUNDS Friday $26,000 were looted from the Bank of Pickens, Pickens, S. C. Friday morning by four unmasked men who held up the bank officials and fled with the money in an Olds mobile Sedan. One of the robbers Robert McGills wa3 captured Satur-i day by the South Carolina Police! authorities with the aid of Sheriff j T. E. Patton and Deputy Sheriff Tom Wood of this county. The Oldsmobile sedan in which the robbers made their first getaway was found on the side of the road at East Fork near the old Hendrix house. It was noticed that the machine had no license tags and that the serial num ber had been filed from the engine, 'his indicating that it may have beer stolen.
