Mr. and Mrs. F. M. Trost and Mrs. Emma Colburn spent Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Stophel at Ros man. R. L. Capps attended an old time singing at Spartanburg Sunday. Mrs. James Carter and children, Roy and Elizabeth spent the week-end with relatives on Mills River. Miss Mary Louise Croushorn spent last Thursday at St. Geneive-of-the Pines at Asheville. Friends and relatives of Mr. Will Allison gathered at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Frank Long at Hfrse Shoe Sunday to share the occasion of Mr. Allisons 63rd birthday. SELiCA NEWS The Gairen annual reunion met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Barton last Sunday and enjoyed a splendid day talking of bygone days. A delicious dinner was spread which was enjoyed by all. A number of bas kets were returned home partly filled but we hope no one weeps about it now. Too bad you were not there. Vasco Manly preached e I splendid sermon at the Methodist | church Sunday evening in the absence j of the pastor, Rev. Yates. We are glad to see the young men and wo men taking up the great work as there is no better material anywhere than right here in Transylvania and we wonder how long it will take us to learn to show our appreciation by standing by them as true citizens. Rev. Holtzclaw of Brevard will preach at the home of Mr. and Mrs Calvin Stammey on Stftmmey Creek Thursday evening at 7 :45 o'clock. Rev. Holtzclaw has made many friends here through his outspoken sermons. He dares the Devil to deny it. Rev. Pearson from near Brevard preached a deep sermon at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John McKinr.a which was enjoyed by a large audi ence. Mrs. L. W. Brooks who has be?n away visiting in Asheville and Wea verville for a number of weeks re turned home recently. Miss Rilza Crumpton was a dinner guest with Mr. and Mrs. Ward Breed ! love Sunday.
