": In point of acting direction and story, "The Fire Brigade" qualifies &s ona uf the really great pictures. This great love story, staged against a thrilling fire background, comes to the Idle Hour theatre Friday mid Saturday. It is a Metro-C'oidwyn-Mayer picture. "The Fire Bridle"- brings back to the screen the -Charles Kay every one loves in a role that lifts him to new heights. Not only did Kay need such a part to establish him again in his rightful place, but the part needed Ray . for its interpretation. The actor and the role seemed to be created for each other. Ray plays the part of Terry O'Neill, a .-young fire man, who finds himself tangled' in a net of love, politics and duty, and the denouement comes in one of the most thrilling climaxes ever screened. May McAvoy.is seen in the leading feminine role opposite Ray, and plavs th part, with "a sincerity that adds immeasurably to her histrionic rank. This actress is growing "in dramatic stature into a brilliant artist with each succeeding picture. An excellent performance is given by Holmes Herbert as James Corwin, and Tom O'Brien, remembered for his work in "The Big Parade," has an other interesting character part. Eu genie Bessercr as the mother of Ray contributes an excellent bit of emo tional acting. "The Climbers" Gives Irene Rich Splendid Emotional Vehicle All the pomp and circumstances of an Old. World Court are embodied in "The Climbers,", the Warner Bros.' production starring Irene Rich, which comes to the Idle Hour theatre next Wednesday for a run of two days. During the reign of King Ferdinand VII, the Court of Spain became guilty of prodigal expenditure,- clandestine love, reckless gaiety and dark in trigue, There it was that a pitiless social "climber" caused the -banishment, of the beautiful Duchess of Arrogan. Irene Rich as the Duchess has an oportunity to portray one of the most colorful and romantic roles of her career. She merges from the charac ter of a gentle-mannered woman of high degree to the tecmpestuous and! fiery-spirited -"hell-cat" of New Spain, a woman whose mind and heart are embittered for all men. ' - Then into her life comes a dash- mum i y v i i - 'icrun.i s. JERALDED by the greatest chorus of praise of any pic ture in a long time, "The Fire Brigade" is here at last from its sensational Broadway run. Not a "fire picture," but the greatest film of love and thrills, courage and sacrifice ever produced. A BIG SPECIAL AT REGU LAR PRICES. ADDED ATTRACTION: SUGAR DADDIES, an All-Star Comedy Admission, 15 and 25 Cents ing, light-hearted cavalier who lays siege to her heart with a risistless and charming persistence. Discovery that she loves him also brings the revela tion that he was the man who un wittingly caused her exile. Hate and love are at war in her heart. Paul L. Stein directed and Tom Gib son wrote the adatptation of the Clyde Fitch drama. The .supporting cast in cludes Clyde Cook, Forrest Stanley, Flobclle Fairbanks, Myrna Loy, An ders Randolph, -Rosemary Cooper, Dot Farley, Hector Sarno, Joseph Striker, Max Barwin and Martha Franklin.
