The fall term of Rabun Gap-Nacoo-chec
school will open on the first
Monday in September. The advan
tages of a school and farm and home
are offered to boys and girls of the
mountain region and rural districts
who need a place where they can be
in school and work their way.
Candidates for admission must be
afJt. to learn, willing to work, sound
in health, not under) 15 years of age,
and' must have completed the. seventh
grade in public schools, and be pre
pared for high school.
The purpose of the school is to
open the door of opportunity to the
boy and girl of the humblest country
home who are worthy of help and
need a better chance.
Applications are now being received
and placed on file. Admission will
be limited to the number that the
school can accommodate. The list of
those accepted will be made up on
August 15.

stewardship since my induction in of
fice as. Register of Deeds.
The first thing I did after my elec
tion was to inform myself the best
I could on the duties of the Register
of Deeds and have at all times .dis
charged,: those duties to the best of my
ability.
I have made several improvements
in the office, ' making many records
much, more accessible to the public,
and' I have endeavored to keep all
records in an efficient manner and
finish every job in proper time.
I have at all times had the interests
of this county and its people at

Fraudulent Brokers Offer

Companies
Detroit, June 30. A warning against
fraudulent brokers and promoters
who are offering stock in foreign
Ford motor companies was issued to
day by the Better Business bureau
of Detroit, in conjunction " with the
National Better Business bureau and
affiliated offices throughout the Unit
ed States and Canada.
Relying on the good will anl n
tegrity of the Ford name, thousands
of persons throughout the country
have purchased stocks which either
turned out to be spurious or were
not delivered at all, the warning said.
There is no way of estimating the fi
nancial loss involved.
"There are a number of fraudulent
concerns in various parts of the coun
try that represent themselves as
brokerage houses and that offer
stocks in various foreign Ford com
panies," the statement from the Bet
ter 'Business bureau said.
Plan Perpetrated
"Several of these companies sell on
the partial payment plan. They offer
stock for stipulated down payment
and a fixed sum per month. Before
the final payment becomes due and
before the stock is delivered to the
purchaser, the company goes out of
business and its officers disappear
only to begin operations at another
location and under another name.
"Stocks of the Ford Motor company
of England, Ltd., and the Ford Motor
company of France are listed on the
New Yorlf Curb market and the prices
at which they, are currently selling
are printed in the financial pages of
the newspapers. Nevertheless many
persons are being led by unscrupulous
brokers to pay far in excess of the
market, prices. .
"The majority of stock brokers, of
course, iare; honest. Our warning is
directed; solely against the fraudulent

I have saved the tax payers more
than Six Thousand ($6,000.00) Dollars
and possibly a long drawn out and
expensive law suit. , I ; shall be glad
to show anyone who may be interest
ed the records in this office which
amply- bear out this statement.
I have tried to keep sacred in every
sense of the word the confidence
placed in me by the voters of this
county.
Now if you approve of the way in
which I have carried on the work in
the office of Register of Deeds, won't
you pelase anaswer in the affirmative

County Aeent F. S. Sloan suggests
that fanners who desire to obtain
ourebred sheet) for breeding purposes
will be able to obtain them at a
sale to be held in Haywood county
at .Clyde on July 12. The sale is
under tha direction of A. C. Walker
chairman of the Agricultural Board
of Haywood county.
Offered for sale will be Hampshires
Dorsets, and Southdowns, , rams, ram
lambs, ewes .and ewe lambs. A cer
tificate of registration will go with
each sale. Mr. Sloan suggests that
any interested Macon county farmer
see him. and arrangements can prob
ably be made to go to Clyde on the
twelfth. The sale will begin at 2
o'clock.
