WEBSTER NEWS Rev. W. N. CooJj has recently returned from Hickory, where he assisted the pastor Rev. R. C. Shar ren in a revival meeting at the West Ilickoiy Baptist Church. Mr. Cook reports a most delightful time in this church where he was the first pastor 34 years ago. Aside from the meeting Mr. Cookf being the honor guest had the priviled of sp eaking over the local radio each morning. This program was sponsored by the Ministerial As sociation of the city of H|ckory. It was said that between twenty five to fifty thousand people heard Mr. Cook each morning. M-Sgt. Frank J. Gene is the Assistant Manager of the Farmers Federation in Sylva; Misses Love Louise Owens and Libby Dale Bumgarner have gone to Brevard this week. Harris and Hans Reese. It remained under this management until 1915 when Amour Leather Company took the plant over and increased its capacity for the manufacture of leather for transmission belting and shoes. The plant is now operated by W. T. Wise, Superintendent, and O. E. Brookhyser, Of fice Manager. Within the past five years, under the present management, the plant has been practically rebuilt and a lot of new equipment installed. U.C1 At the present time 120 men are employed ^ hours per week, with an annual payroll of approximately $208,000.00. In addition, Chestnut, and Oak bark is bought from the resi dents of Jackson and surrounding counties to the amount of $50,000.00 per year.
