Bosox Should Trouble Yanks For A. L. Flag The addition of several major league stars to the roster ..of the Boston Red Sox seems to have given Joe McCarthy a club simi-( liar to the championship Bosox club of 1946, providing their pit ching comes back to par. Experts are predicting a pen nant race as hot as the one in '46 between the Cards and the Dod gers. The Bosox and the Yankees are both loaded for bear and seem to be far in advance of the rest of the American league clubs. The purchasing of Jack Kramer and Ellis Kinder from the St. Louis Browns to go with their al-l ready dangerous mound staff of Joe Dobson, Harry Dorish, Dave Ferriss, Dennie Galehouse, Mickey Harris, Tex Hughson and Earl Johnson 6hould prove tough enough to meet major league competition more that half way. Ferriss, Har ris, and Hughson all had bad sea sons last year. T.he bulk of the catching will fall upon George Tebbetts, vet eran backstop formerly of the De troit Tigers. Tebbetts hit .299 in 90 games for the Bosox last season. Ed McGah, Matthew Batts, and Boris Martin, a .319 hitter for To ledo last summer, are fighting for the other positions. The infield is tight enough. Ver (Continued from page five) ?Read Herald Classified Ads For Profits?
