For The Women Society News and Clab Activities * Phone 110 Mrs. J. G. Jones Hostess To Beta H. D. Club The Beta Home Demonstration Club met Wednesday, April 14, at 2 p.m. in the home of Mrs. J. C. Jones. The meeting was called to order and the business session presided over by the president, Mrs. Cole Ridley. The club voted to give S5.00 to the Cancer Control Fund. Mrs. W. H. Wu'tefield conducted the de votional. Miss Mary Johnston, county Home Demonstration agent, discussed methods of growing and preserving sweet potatoes. She gave out a leaflet containing sev eral recipes for sweet potatoes. Then she gave a demonstration of one of the recipes. The hostess served refreshments of ice cream and cake to the fol lowing club members: Mrs. Cole Ridley. Mrs. F. M\ Williams, Mrs. Joe Sutton, Mrs. E. L. Council Hears Miss Hotchkiss On Friday and Saturday, April| 16 & 17, Miss Virginia Hotchkiss,| district Home Demonstration agent, visited Jackson county in| the interest of the Home Demon stration work. The County Council met at the courthouse on Friday and heard Miss Hotchkiss discuss plans for| the new year's work. One of thej outstanding thing was the laying of the foundation to organize the] officers of all the clubs into a county federation for specific work, especially the making of re ports and tending to other mat ters to go into the district federa tion. The county curb market was discussed and it was reported that all the culbs in the county had voted for the establishment of the| curb market. All the members of the council, except one, were present for this meeting.
