The baby, born April 21, 1948, was| 3 months. 11 days old at the time of its death. He is survived by his parents* two sisters, Naomi and Steila Kate; three brothers, William Harold, Elbtrt Clark and Ray Thomas; his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Gass. of Asheville and Mr. and Mrs. *E. C. Owen of Glenville and several aunts and uncles. Meat supplies per capita in 1948 will be about 145 pounds. DAVID M. Nichols. Mr. Joe Hedde.n, Band Director for Kings Mountain High school, Kings Mountain, is spending this week here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Hedden. Mrs. Hed den and her mother spent the week-end here with Mr. Hedden and his parents. They returned to Kings Mountain Sunday. Mr. Hedden will return home this week-end, accompanied by his parents. Red Raper To Give Entertainment At Next Legion Square Dance "Smiling" Red Raper, known throughout th,e Southern Appala chian Mountains as the "Appala chian Troubadour", will give a spe cial entertainment at the Ameri :an Legion square dance Tuesday night, August 17. . r Red's provacative ditties have made him popular wherever fes ! iivals are held. [ A school teacher by profession (and at present attending Western Carolina Teachers College sum mer school, he has made such pop ular recordings as "Little Indian Maiden", "Soldiers's last Leteer", and his ever popular version of "John Henry", are but a f.w of the numbers he will do Tuesday night. The first commercially-produc ed television show broadcast from an airplane in flight was put on by the Navy s Willcw Grove, Penna., Naval Air Reserve Station in No vember, 1947. THEATRE IN THE SKY TO GIVE THIRD PLAY OF SERIES AT HOEY AUDITORIUM THURS DAY EVENING The "Theatre In The Sky" com pany cl' Waynesville will present their third play in Cullowhee "Mr. and Mrs. Pnipps" by John Hamil-1 ten. Thursday (Aug. 12) at 8:30 P. M. at the Hoey Auditorium. Cullowhee. The local presenta tation will be sponsored by the Boy Scouts of Cullowhee. I "Mr. and Mrs. Phipps" was first produced at the famous Pasadena Playhouse and has since been pi\ - sen-ted by many well-known stock, companies. It tells the story of a; couple who go to California to< write a book and pnint. They' become involved with a Holly-! wood movie star and his philander- j ing wife and finally work out the solution to their problems. Ellen Beth Hurst and George Pillette, popular leading team of the company, play the title roles! of Mr. and Mrs. Ph.pps and Vir ginia Shield will be seen as Anna belle, their cousin. Doreen O'Neill Curtis plays the part of Paula Leslie, who devotes her life to discovering people with talent, preferably male, and El wyn Dearborn appears as Steph en, her movie star husband. The role of Bill Hogan, one time writer, will be played by Donald E. Vogt and Melv.n Pomene plays Mr. Skeeter, the real estate agent. An elaborate stag-? setting has been designed by Elma Ilene Geoffrey and the production staff includes Miss Shield, Ivan Lynn and Bob King. The play starts at 8:30 and tick ets are on sale at the box-office. V. Lewis Bullis Body Returned To Orlando V. Lewis Bullis, of Orlando, Fla.( who for the past 13 years has sper.t i the summer months in J. ckson county, suffered a heart attack early Monday morning, August 2, and died at 5 o'clock at a local tourist heme where they had been for only two weeks. He was taken to Orlando for funeral services and interment. Mr. Bullis, a native of Min nesota, was a retired citrus grower. He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Gertrude Bullis; one son, V, Lewis Bullis, Jr., and one grand daughter. Glenn Funeral Home was in charge of ar? angements. Two Mecklenburg County dairy, men, Jap and Frank Cathey, have found that they can make concrete fence posts for their pastures at a cost of less that SI per post. They use a mixture of one part cement, two parts sand, and four parts gra vel, and reinforce the posts with scrap steel. Hog breeders in Wayne County have been using temporary pas tures but now plan to try Ladino clover to furnish part of their graz ing. Mary of them will seed Ladino in Septemoer.
