Webster experienced its first forest fire in several years on Monday afternoon when fire . caught in a pine thicket just outside the village. The fire was on a hill back of the old Davis farm and it caught from a brush Dile; which was burned on Virgil Cook's property during the morning. Firej warden Mack Ashe and his effi-1 cient crew of fire fighters were soon on the scene and after about j an hour of hard work the fire was j under control. Friends of Miss Dessie Allison will be glad to know that she is recovering rapidly from injuries' received when she fell down several steps in the home last week. Mrs. Ray Cowan of Asheville was here over the week-end. Mrs. Cowan was calied here to nurse her sister-in-law who is a patient in the C. J. Harris Community hospital. There were nine , quartets, one choir, one trio, and one soloist present to take part . in the singing. Congregational > singing was also enjoyed. A large crowd attended and enjoyed the afternoon of singing.
