Barrett, assisted by her daughter, Miss Jeanne Barrett, was hostess to the monthly meeting of the Carrie Rhodes circle Monday evening. The president, Mrs. O. E. Monteith, presided over the business. Rev. W. Q. Grigg opened the ? ? - 11 ri f V? meeting witn prayer <mci * ???*-.. the program, "The Whole of Love is My Answer", was given very interestingly by Mrs. L. A. Parry and Mrs. Frank Fricks. Mrs. F. M. Williams was chairman of the program. Mrs. O. E. Monteith was in charge of the recreation hour. The hostesses served delicious refreshments to the fourteen members present. Lona Clark Has Birthday Party At School Mrs. Cash Clark honored her small daughter, Lona, witfc a party on her 7th birthday in Mrs. Robert Fisher's first grade room at Savannah school, Monday afternoon. Mrs. Clark, assisted by Mrs. Fisher, directed the children in a number of games during the afternoon. Lona's beautiful cake, bearing 7 candles, was cut and given as favors. Thursday Night Bridge Club Meets With Mrs. Cunningham The Thursday Night Bridge club met with . Mrs. Martin tunningnam last week at her home. Playing were Mrs. Ned Morris, Mrs. Wade Wilson, Miss Nancy Allison, Mrs. Rudy Hardy, Mrs. Dan Bryson Hooper, Mrs. Jennings Bryson, Mrs. H. C. Johnson, and Mrs. James Barnwell. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Freeze have returned from a few week's visit in Kannapolis with relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Baumgarner and son, Ralph, Jr., spent the Christmas holidays in Burlington with Mr. Baumgarner's brother and in Durham with friends. Mr. and Mrs. J. M. Bird, after spending the Christmas holidays in Goldsboro with Mrs. Bird's mother, Mrs. Rachel C. Mrs. Don Fisher presided over the business session at which time the secretary gave a financial report of the class. Plans were completed for the Year Book. Mrs. B. S. Hensley gave a very interesting talk on the first 12 chapters of Matthew. Long was hostess to her Bridge club at her home Tuesday night with the following playing: Mrs. Grover Wilkes, Mrs. A. H. Carter, Mrs. Ramsey Buchanan, Mrs. W. H. Carter, Mrs. Dan Allison, Mrs. Dan Moore, Mrs. C. B. Thompson, and Mrs. Pratt Cheek. High score prize went to Mrs. A. H. Carter, and Mrs. Wilkes held second high. Mrs. Carter and Mrs. Wilkes also captured the slam prizes. Mrs. Leng served a sweet course. ***** The Presbyterian Radio Hour Dr. James A. Jones, of Charlotte, speaker for the January Presbyterian Radio Hour can be heard over most of the North Carolina stations, including Waynesville WHCC. His subject for January are as follows: January 8: "Our Sense of Spiritual Needs." January 15: "Divine Guidance ? On Condition." January 22: "On Being Sure of God's Leadership." The pigs are registered Hampshires, a breed found suitable to our locality to thrive. The two latest porkers were given to Olin Blanton, of Maple Springs, a first year agriculture student in the Sylva high school, and to Pat Nations, of Nation's Creek, also a first year agriculture student.
