Coach Ben Battle's undefeated Cullowhee High boys rolled to their 16th consecutive victory of the season here Saturday night by defeating Clyde High 37 to 28. The game was the preliminary to the Western Carolina Atlantic Christian North State Conference college game. Playing conservatively, Cullo whee rolled up an early lead, then let Clyde do the sweating. Cocaptains Homer . Wike and Wallace Stevens set the pace for the winning boys and Clyde fell behind before it could match it. Wike dropped in 18 points for scoring honors and Stevens came close behind with 14. The remainder of the Cullowhee team was satisfied to play defensive ball and help with the rebounds. The Western Carolina Catamounts, one-time scourge of the North State Conference, dropped a pair of conference games to Atlantic Christian College here Friday and Saturday nights. ACC/won the Friday night game, 47 to 45, but bounced back for a 43 to 34 victory in the Saturday game. The Catamount jayvees played, most of the Friday varsity game. Lefty J. E. Pardue, Cat center, led the Cullowhee scoring with 11 points. However, the Cats could not match shots with Bobby Tart, Raymond Suggs and Paul Glazer. The three ACC hot shots ripped ;he nets for 38 of the 47 points. Western Carolina guards Ned Straehle and Ronald Rogers were closest to Pardue in the losers' scoring with nine and eight points, -espectively. The Catamounts held the lead nost of the way in the Friday game, giving way only in the final ialf to a sustained A.C.C. rally. However, Saturday it was a different story. A.C.C. gained con trol of the game at the start and never gave way. Again it was blazer, Tart and Suggs who ac:ounted for the points. Tart and Suggs were high with 14 each. CLYDE HIGH TAKES DOUBLE HEADER FROM RARNWL ROYS. GIRLS Jewel Evans, Haywood scoring leader, bucketed 22 points Friday night as the Clyde High girls over ran the Sylva Golden Hurricane, 55 to 40. The Clyde boys made it a clean sweep of the doubleheader by defeating the Sylva boys, 60 to 28, in the nightcap. Mary Worley of Sylva dropped in 19 points in the losing but this number was matched and offset by Miss Fore of Clyde. Morgan and Limbo Were the big guns for the winning boys combination. Morgan took scoring honors with 14 points and Limbo added 11. For Sylva the scoring was evenly divided among players. Wesley Warren and Hoss Cabe topped the cloumn with six points each.
