Warren instead of at the Baptist Church as was first announced. sj? * * >fc * Thursday Night Bridge Meets With Mrs. Tweed Mrs. E. E. Tweed entertained members of the Thursday night Bridge club at her home last week. Seven members and one visitor, Mrs. H. C. Johnson, of Athens, made up two tables for the evening's play. Mrs. Johnson was dinner of high score and Mrs. W. L. Jones, low. Mrs. Johnson and Mrs. CVrus Nicholson won the slam prize. Others playing were: Misses Lucile and Hicks Wilson, Mrs. W. T. Wise, Mrs. Woody Hampton, and Mrs. John Wilson. Mrs. Chester Given Shower A stork shower, honoring Mrs. Lawrence Chester, was given recently by Mrs. Andy Queen at the home of Mrs. Charles Allen. Appropriate games were played and refreshments enjoyed while the honoree opened the lovely gifts given her. * * * * * Birthday Dinner Honors Father And Daughter Mrs. Andy Queen entertained at a birthday dinner on Sunday, February 5, honoring her husband and daughter, Mary Frances. Jj? % $ * Miss Ulmer Guest Speaker At Twentieth Century Club Mrs. Dan Moore was hostess for the monthly meeting of the Twentieth Century club at her home on last Thursday afternoon. In the absence of the president, Mrs. Harry Hastings presided during the business hour. At this time the club voted $10 from its treasury for the polio fund. Mrs. D. D. Davis, program chairman of the month, had secured Miss Mary Ulmer of the Cherokee Central school faculty as guest speaker for the afternoon. Miss Ulmer spoke most interestingly on the Indian Drama, "Unto These Hills", which will begin showings at the open air ampitheater at Cherokee next year. This will be ^ very realistic presentation of the1 early history of the Cherokee Indian, given from a stage, amid natural surroundings true to the early life of the Indian. Miss Ulmer was introduced by Mrs. C. C. Buchanan, who acted as chairman in the absence of Mrs. Davis. During the social hour Mrs. Moore served a salad and dessert :ourse with coffee.
