Page 6 r~~7 For The Women j I - Person Demonstration of Basket Weaving Given At Club Meeting Mrs. E. M. Vaught was hostess on Monday to the Balsam-Willets Home Demonstration club. During the business meeting the new Year Books were distributed. The program discussion was on "Our National Government." Visitors included Mrs. George Evans, and Mrs. Jeanne Bradley. Mrs. Bradley delighted the club by demonstrating basket weaving with white split oak. The hostess used the Valeatine motif in decorations, favors, and the delicious refreshments she served. Dr. Daisy McGuire Entertains Woman's Bible Class Dr. Daisy McGuire entertained the Woman's Bible class of the Sylva Methodist church at a 6 o'clock dinner at her home Wednesday, Feb. 15. Members of the class are: Mrs. Anne Candler, teacher; Mrs. Bird Parker, Mrs. John Ashe, Mrs. Ed Heed, Mrs. Rosa Nichols, Miss Maggie Moore, Mrs. Ida Keener, I Mrs. Madge Wilson, Mrs. A. D. McGuire. ***** JMonthly Meeting Of Qualla PTA Held The Qualla Parent-Teacher Association met Wednesday afternoon in Miss J. Cathey's room with Mrs. Helen Cathey, presi* dent, presiding. The minutes of the last meeting were read by the secretary and a reoort was given by the treasurer. Mrs. Ruby Worley was nominated as a delegate to attend the P.T.A. convention in Charlotte during April. Plans were also made to attend the county-wide study course to be held March 1 in Cullowhee. Mrs. Cathey was elected to serve another term as president, after which the meeting was turn* ed over to Mrs. John Ferguson, program chairman, who had a very interesting program on Founder's Day. After taking the silver offering, the meeting was adjourned to meet March 15 at the school. The members then went into the schqol lunch room where refreshments were served by the hostesses for the month. An attractive Valentine motif was used throughout the hall and the dinner. Mrs. Roger Dillard, president, was in charge. After dinner Miss Nancy Allison, Mrs. Wade Wilson, Mrs. Ed Baldridge, Miss flattie miaa auiton, Miss Edith Garrett, and Mrs. Ned Morris gave imitations of love songs. Other Valentine games were enjoyed, with Mrs. Dennis Barkle: and Mrs. Ned Morris winning th( prizes. A movie, "The Old Curiosity Shop", was shown by Brank Proffit. Members of the club had their husbands and other friends as guests. Of Scotts Creek Holds Business Meeting The Woman's Missionary Society of the Scotts Creek Baptist church met with Mrs. Wess Harris last Thursday evening for their monthly meeting.
