Page 6 7=7 For The Women ^ | | Person* Scotts Creek WMS Meets With Mrs. Enslev Scotts Creek Woman's Missionary Service met at the home of Mrs. Cling Ensley Thursday, Aug. 24. for an all-day meeting. The regular program was given during the morning, which was "Are You on a Diet?" Mrs. T. C. Bryson was the program leader, and Mrs. Joe Sutton led the devotional, "Graven on the Hand of God." Other members taking part were, Mrs. B. E. Harris, Mrs. W. I. Cook, *? /~\i: _ tr v-w, l ^. -.viris. wiin wit,*. Each member brought a covered dish which was enjoyed at the noon hour. Eleven were present with three vi rs. Rev. 13. S. Henslev, Miss Pauline Snelson and Mrs. .Vernon Cope. During '.he afternoon Mrs. B. S. Henslev gave an interesting program on State Missions. The hostesses for this delightful affair were Mrs. Glenn Hooper and Mrs. Faye Fincannon. The honoree was presented a shower of lovely gifts. After several rounds of bingo, refreshments were served. Pink and white were the predominating colors. The home was attractively arranged with summer flowers. Twenty-one friends of the honorcc made up the party. ^ "i* ? Addie HDC Has Annual Picnic The annual picnic of the Addie Homo Demonstration club was held at the home of Mrs. Cary Allison and Mrs. Gertrude Fisher. Fifteen members and one visitor, Mrs. Dora Saunders of Washing ton, were present. After the delicious picnic lunch served on the lawn a short business meeting was in charge of Mrs. Ralph Smith. Copper tray making was discussed and orders for the individual members for copper were taken. * * V * PERSONALS Mr. and Mrs. R. Higdon have -returned to South Carolina after a N^sit with Mrs. Royston Cowan at Greens Creek and Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Higdon at Gay. Rev. and Mrs. Charles B. McConnell returned last Friday from New York where they studied during the summer months. Rev. Mr. McConnell is pastor of Cullowhee Baptist church. Word was recived here this week of the death of William Vernon, of Milton, N. C. He died Aug. 19 of a heart attack. Lyman Stewart and family of Norton attended the funeral. Mr. Vernon and Mrs. Stewart were brothers-in-law. Mrs. Elsie Monteith Terrell. daughter of Mrs. Sarah Monteith, received her Masters Degree in Education at George Peabody college, Nashville, Tenn., on Friday,1 August 18. Mrs. Terrell will do primary work at Cashiers. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Rogers and daughter, Jean, of Greenville, S.; C. spent the week-end at Webster with Mr and Mrs. Lewis Cannon.! Mr. and Mrs. Jule Bryson, of Greensboro, were week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Don Davis at Webster. Miss Alma Lassen, of Pinnacle View, at Beta, has returned home after a three weeks business trip in St. Petersburg, Fla. Superintendent and Mrs. W. L. Jones and daughter, Glenda Kay of Walhalla, S.
