(Continued from page 2) made a handsome profit for themselves. Mr. Vickery's idea is that the Kiwanis club should sponsor a similar project, with the F.F.A. members participating. He pointed out that the lessons learned by the youngsters are permanent. Editor Griffin pointed out that several of these boys who received calves in trust last year have this year put in from three to five acres in permanent pasture and are now engaged in livestock production on their own. Our farm program of tomorrow depends on these youngsters. If we can help them, or convince them, that permanent pastures and livestock go together, then we will have achieved a great victory. Rutherford county can produce grasses and legumes unequalled by few counties in North Carolina. This is necessary for a well-balanced livestock program. If we give these youngsters the proper encouragement and help, they will make the county of tomorrow a livestock county. ?Forest City Courier. i Tristate Singing Convention To Be Held Sunday The annual Tristate Singing convention will be held at Glenville High School on Sunday, Sept. 10. This will be an all-day affair, and the public is invited to come and bring well-filled picnic baskets.
