Summer Schools
The time is drawing near when
the, teachers and those expecting
to teach next ye tr will have the
opportunity of going to t h e
school offered at the near places.
By these courses the teachers
imy advance their grade and
class. Many of these schools
near us are offering the best of
the country to those who may
wish to take advantage. There
is the county school or course
where g)od instructors are at
hand and will help those who
come. Then in Asheville is the
.Summer School where the best
instructors have been engaged
and with a faculty of eighty
teachers in the department?
needed for preparation, a teacher
can studay almost all the things
offered and where in the coun
try. We are sure that many from
Madison will go some where to
; prepare themselves for better
work the coming year. The tea
cher needs to have the best pre
paration in the world because
they have more influence over
and can make the lives that come
under their charge as no other
person can do. We sometimes
think that young men and women
do not have a just appreciation
of the power of the school room.
To know your subject and to be
able to teach it is the bi,? thing
Not just enough to vet thru
with, but. encugh to ma!e lives.
Then there should be course
that teach how to take care of
the pupils outside of the school
room. A true teacher often ha?
more influence by their live?
outside of the Bchool. In play-
hours and at other times the pu
pil may be encouraged and he'p
ed. In planning your study for
the summej think of making all
the life of the pupil. Don't only
perpare fpr the inside of the
walls but at all time. Leave the
impress on the community as
well as on the child in the school.
The professor of teaching is a
wonderful one and has immense
possibilities and the teacher shou
ld appreciate this and prepare
for it.
