Mrs. Prefer whose husband ia candidate for Governor in the May Democratic primary, was honored at a reception in Mars Hill last Thursday at the Mara Hill Community Center. Mrs. Farkas is a member of the Memorial Library staff at Mars Hill College and her husband is a member of the college faculty. Mra. Farkas came to the United States from Germany in 1956, became a naturalized citizen in 1962 and is looking forward to her first opportunity to vote for the Governor of North Carolina. Mrs. Loo was official hostess for the reception and was assisted by Mrs. Julia Tilson, Mrs. Hill Pow ell, Mrs. Vienna Hunter, Mrs. Pill Bennett, Mrs. Bruce Sams, MissJinsio Underwood and Mrs. Walter Smith. The large number of guests at the reception included residents of Madison, Mitchell, Yancey and Buncombe counties. Local bowler, compaoed of res idents and former residents of Marshall, were presented trophies -lor season play in the Sunday Night Bowling Mixed League, at a banquet at Piagah View Ranch Sunday night Winner were as follows: First place Benny and Ruth Davis. 1st high average John Davis.
