He is an armored per sonnel carrier driver. After fin ishing school at Marshall in 1963, he entered the Army and received his basic training at Fort Gordon, Ga. He has been in Germany for a year. Griffin, 26. son or Mr. and Mrs. Edd W. Grif fin, Rt. 1, Mars Hill, was gradu ated from the 3d Infantry Divi sion Non-Commlaslonsd Officer (NCO) Acadamy in Kittingen, Germany, Jan. 8. Sergeant Griffin received five weeks of rigorous training in lead ership and exercise of command, map reading, the history of weap ons and military teaching meth ods. He is a member of Battery C, 3d Howitzer Battalion, of the di vision's 76th Artillery. Griffin entered the Anmy in July 1957 and was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas before arriving overseas in July 1964 on this tour of duty. Willard W. U. S. Forces, Okinawa (AHT NC Army Pvt. William R. Johnson, 18, son of Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Johnson, Hot Springs, was assigned to the U. S. Signal Group on Okinawa, Dec. 31. A communications center spe cialist in the group's 999th Sig nal Company, Johnson entered the Army in June 1964 and received basic training at Fort Gordon, Ga. He is a 1964 graduate of Hot Springs High School. Okinawa (FHTNC) Marine Private First Class Ralph M. Lov ing, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph M. Loving, Sr., of Marshall Rt. 5 has completed advanced combat training in preparation for transplacement to the Far East while serving with the Sec ond Battalion, First Marine Reg iment, Camp Pendleton, Calif. The battalion will be assigned to the Third Marine Division on Okinawa for 18 months.
