Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Kice, Sr.,
visited their son, Jerry Kice Jr.,
and family last Friday in Bryson
City. On Saturdlay they and Jer
ry, Jr., attended graduating ex
ercises ut Clemson University
where their son-in-law, Charles
Carrow received his Master's De
cree in Zoology. Mrs. Carrow is
the former Miss Sheila Rice.
Garland L. "Doc" Burnette,
Atlanta, Ga.. Mr. and Mrs. Stan
ley Landis of Taylor, Mich., Mr.
and Mrs. Ralph Burnette of Bilt
more and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Rice,
Sr., met at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. Jeter G. Reece in Asheville
Tuesday where a cookout was en

Birthday Wednesday
Miss Sue Ollie Tweed, devoted
member of the Ladies' Bible Class
of Marshall Presbyterian Church,
was honored on her birthday by
members of the class at the home
of her sieter, Mra E. M Amnions
of Mars Hill, Wednesday after
noon. Mrs. S. C. Rudisill, president,
opened the meeting, gave greet
ings and led the group in singing
"Happy Birthday." Then Mrs. W.
C. Rector conducted the devotion
al period, using the First Psalm
for Scripture lesson. Impressive
words of service and poetry were
also given.
Miss Tweed was presented with
many beautiful and useful gifts.
Members remembered her in this
way that were unable to attend
the meeting.
The guests were then invited
into the dining room, where a
huge birthday cake adorned the
table, which was covered with a
beautiful hand-made lace table
cloth and sweet pea arrangement.
Mrs. J. B. Tweed assisted the
hostess and presided at the punch
bowl. Miss Marine Amnions also
assisted in serving the following

Club To Sponsor
Dinner On Sunday
The Mars Hill Civitan Club will
sponsor a dinner this Sunday from
12:00 noon to 2:00 p. m., in the
high school cafeteria.
Proceeds from the dinner will
be used to help defray expenses
of the summer recreational pro
gram. Kveryone is cordially invited to
