Accepts Award Charles Payne MHS Newspaper Wins First Place At Roundtable "The Blannahassett Tribune" won first place in the non-printed newspapers category at the Edi tor's Roundtable held Saturday at Western Carolina College. Char les Payne, editor, accepted the trophy from Mr. J. P. Brady, chairman of the event which is held annually at the college. Johnny Fisher, sophomore, waa elected assistant editor for next year in the election held in the afternoon. Larry Moore, presi dent of the Roundtable, presided at tile meeting. Larry had been a guest of the college on Friday Zeb C. Smith, 75, Passes Saturday; Funeral Monday Services for Zeb C. Smith, 75, of Weaverville Rt. 2, who died Sat urday, afternoon, November 6, 1966 in his home after a long ill ness, were held at 2:30 p. m., Monday in Ivy Hill Baptist Church. The Rev. Worth Emory and the Rev. Jamas Taffer officiated. Bur ial was in Morgan Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers were Carl I'arham, Glenn Honeycutt, Clyde and James Metcalf, SephaS Witt and Voyd Smith. Surviving are the widow, Mra. Bertie Wallen Smith; two daugh ters, Mrs. Preston Church of Wea verville Rt. 2 and Mrs. Bill Saun ders of Southhampton, Mass.; five sons, Robert, James, Carroll and Ronnie, all of Weaverville Rt. 2, and Jackie Smith of the home; four brothers, Jeff of Weaverville Rt. 2, Joe of Maryville, Tenn., Dock of Alexander and Dewey Smith of Asheville; and 13 grandchildren. Holcombe Funeral Home was in charge. night when the officers made plans for the one day event. Sleepy Valley HD Club Met With Mrs. Waldroup The Sleepy Valley Home Dem onstration Club met with Mrs. Henry Waldroup Wednesday, No vember 'A at 2 p. m., with the president, Mrs. Manley Holt, pre siding. Mrs. Perry Gowan gave the de votions, choosing for her Scrip ture Proverbe 31. After a brief business session, Mrs. Wallin gave an interesting demonstration on bouse plans and furnishings. She began with "the plan," based on a budget; considering good invest ments in good basic furnisings, etc. She gave some good points, and also demonstrated with the basic colors that make up a well furnished room. Each member was asked to bring their Christmas ideas to share with others. Mrs. Henry Waldroup served delicious refreshments to the 8 members present. Our next meeting will be with Mrs. Dewey Foster. This will be our Christmas meeting and each member is asked to bring an ex change gift. All members are urged to come and bring other Christmas ideas. The date is De cember 1 at 2 p. m. Tweeds Bag 37 Coons In E.N.C.; Return Tuesday Elmer Tweed and son, Luke Tweed, of Marshall Route 3, wan dared a long ways from home but Recording to Elmer it was worth the trip. The two county hunters went to New Bern and Morehead City coon and bear hunting. They returned Tuesday a little tired but happy. Elmer say they bagged 37 coons bat didn't bring back any bears. "We sure did have a wonderful time," Mr. Tweed said.
