Orer Roberta Pharmacy a a a s s 9p s It's so much nicer to say some thing complimentary about a per son than to find fault I've always been a strong believer in giving a person a pat on the shoulder rather than criticizing them two weeks ago I complimented the Grace Restaurant on the recent remodeling I certainly expected nothing in the way of a "pay off" for the little squib in this column but the few lines resulted in a fine an niversary dinner for Bill and me George Kaltsunis, one of the owners of the restaurant, said he appreciated the kind words and wanted me to bring the wife over for a "meal on the house" so, last Thursday night Bill and I celebrated our wedding anniversary by eating a delicious steak supper at the Grace Restaurant Vir ginia Rogers, one of the friendly waitresses, went "all-out" to please us told us to order anything we wanted and even re ferred to me as "a sweet person" (I've got her fooled, haven't I ? ) George came over to our table and extended greetings and everything was just fine thanks a million for the setup and it added greatly to our an niversary several newly-installed street lights in various section of town have improved several "dark corners'" con gratulations to those responsible one of the finest and cutest youngsters I know is Ted Monroe Sprinkle, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ted Sprinkle who is spending the sum mer here with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Eads Ted Monroe often rides his pony up to the house and we have had some fine visits together he loves ponies and horses even more than girls I asked him re cently if he had a sweetheart and he remarked emphatically, "Shucks no, girls just "goof off" and then he added, " and they can't do anything as well as a pony can" oh, well, Ted Monroe, I believe you'll change your mind in a few years it's a good thing that Pat Boyd, Daisy Wor ley, and Grace Connor have good dispositions 'cause we really kid them a lot while eating at Roberts Pharmacy Edward McLean is the main "tormentor" down there but he usually concentrates on aggravating Edna Hensley and Venie Davis it's real good to see Edith Cody back in circula tion after being confined! to the hospital don't know what Kermit would do without her keeping books, etc. HA Joe Penland, Jr., stationed at Great Lakes, 111., missed a copy of the paper recently and didn't like it Joe, I hope you get a copy every week we mail 'em and hope you get 'em -be sure to tune in TV Channel 13 Sunday morning at 7:30 and1 watch the Hayes Run 4-H Mountain doggers perform on "Aspect" glad that Dot Shupe is back normal a- gain after a day in the hospital can't keep a good gal down, can they Dot? 1 I' JIGM : observations : By DOROTHY B, BHUPB V Do you get a sort of scary feel ing when you enter a hospital T I guess I'm the biggest hypoohron driac in tha world and every time I'm sick I presume it's the worst, and nothing good can happen! But I lived through tha tests and got back home almost before the pa per came out saying I was gone. Guess who my roommate was? Pearl BrigmanI And I believe she had about as big a case of fear as had. She was Mrs. Floyd Brig- man, wife ol a lormer principal of Red Oak School. She was a very nice person. The young man that "stuck" me for blood it seems like they take a gallon looked for the world like Ray Kirby, and was just as much fun He said Aunt Julia Brigman was his favorite patient, and then he said that Mrs. Kate Reed was his best pa tient! He wore his hair as long as the hospital allows and said1 he had a beard, but they made him cut it off. Also saw Gaynelle Buckner Sams who works there and told her about Ray and Linda courting. Odessa Henderson was there, too, and we compared ills and had the same test the next morning for which we took ten pills at five-minute intervals which I thought would never come to an end. Then I got scared that I was going to have to drink that chalky like stuff, the nurses would evade answering me, and I didn't sleep worth a hoot. Anyway, I didn't have to drink it, and I got to miss lirenda 1 nomas, Johnny FSherlin, To Wed August 2 Miss Bremda Faya Thomas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Thomas, of Route 2, Hot Springs, and Johnny F. I had about re signed that they would cut my throat (for thyroid) but they didn't for now, so I guess I'll make it for a while longer. So much for my hospital visit Thanks to all who thought of me. Miss Jennie Lee said she and Miss Lulu were about to send me card and surely someone else said, "Poor Dorothy." Well, af ter reading my column last week, I said, "Poor Dorothy," cause l had made the same mistake three times in a row and surely it was due to my high nervous state! If you noticed, you egg-heads, please remember I was in in a high state of tension and most anything can come from one's typewriter in such an instance! Anyway, I'll bet Bill got the best present she ever had after what I said! And it was Ronnie Gra ham who brought me the tomatoes I'm sure I didn't make that mis take Guess it was Coley.
