local library staffs in

Credits From
Institutes
Western Carolina University
has adopted a new policy, ef
fective with the winter quarter
of 1971, of accepting transfer
students from technical in
stitutes or community college
technical programs.
The more liberal transfer of
credits policy will, for the first
time, allow students completing
terminal" programs at post
secondary institutions below the
four-year college level to be
admitted into university
programs.
The transfer of credits toward
a WCU baccalaureate degree
will be accepted from fully
accredited Institutes or com
munity colleges and from in
stitutes or colleges that have
applied for regional ac
creditation and met all ac
creditation standards except
age of institution.
The new policy will permit the
transfer of ud to 45 ouarter
hours of credit for freshmen and
sophomore courses completed
at either a technical institute or
in a community college
technical program that are
equivalent to junior and senior
level courses at Western
Carolina University.
