Bowman Hardware Marshall, N. C. L Joe Morgan of Marshall Rt. '2, made a trip to Charleston, Savannah, Palm Beach and Hollywood and Miami Beach last week and visited with friends and toured points of interest during a five-day stay. Mr. Morgan reports 80 degree weather in Hollywood, Fla., with everything green and thriving along Florida's Gold Coast. He also reported that he learned that over 10,000 tourists from points north cross the state line on Dec. 21, which he says is the best time to visit Florida. Ted Buckner of Richmond, Va. spent the holidays with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Buckner of Big Pine Road. Mike Jackson of Columbus, visited his grandfather, John Candler, during Christmas. Mr. and Mrs. Liston Ramsey and their daughter, Miss Martha Ramsey, returned Sunday from Michigan where they spent the Christmas holidays with Mrs. Ramsey's brother and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Carl McDevitt, and family in wonia; and with her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. John King, and their son in Detroit Mr. and Mrs. Fuller Stines had as guests during Christmas all their children and their families: Miss Mildred Stines, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Stines and two children of Glen Alpine; Mr. and Mrs. Wintz Mcintosh, their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Niles Ball, of Burnsville; Miss Jean Stines of Asheville; Miss Winna Stines of Mars Hill and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Roberts and family of Marshall. On Christmas Day they all had dinner at the Roberts home on Pine Creek. Other members of the family present were the Roberts' son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Bobby Dean Franklin, and their two children of Greeneville, Term., Mrs. Avis Pressley and her sister, Miss Genell Fox, of Asheville. Mrs. Floyd Davis, Sr. and granddaughter, Teresa Henderson, spent last week in Durham visiting friends and relatives. Burl Riddle, Floyd Davis, Jr. and daughter, Susan, spent part of last week in Detroit visiting friends and relatives. Mrs. J. C. Sprinkle of Charlotte returned to her home Sunday after spending a few days here with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. Fain Sprinkle and their two sons. Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Eads had as guests during the Christ mas holidays their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Eads and two children of North Wilkesboro; and their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Sprinkle and three children of Charlotte. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Giblin, of Marshall, have returned from Crowley, La., where they visited their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Young. Mr. and Mrs. Young have a daughter, Kelly Lou Ann, born Dec. 1. Mrs. Laura Webster of Houston, Tex. arrived a few days ago to make her home with Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Giblin on the Marshall-Mars Hill highway. Dr. and Mrs. Arthur F. Williams attended the funeral Wednesday of Mrs. Williams' sister, Mrs. O. W. Manthey, in Akron, Ohio. The Mantheys visited here last summer. Mr. Snipes is a former pastor of Hopewell Baptist Church. Miss Nelda Mills of Sylva was the guest of John Reid here Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Wallin and children, Diane and Bryan, of Richmond, Va. are spending the Christmas holidays with Mr. Wallin's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. V. Wallin and Mrs. Wallin's mother, Mrs. Eva Sams. Mr. and Mrs. Harry "Preach" Davis spent Christmas in Greenville, S. C. with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Freshour, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas White and family of Edgewater, Md. are spending this week in Marshall with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy White and Robert Roberts; and with Mrs. White's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Wilde, and family. Mr. and Mrs. Wade Huey returned Saturday from Charlotte where they spent Christmas with their older son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. James Huey, and family. The Hueys' younger son, Charles, and Miss Billie Jean Redmon, also spent Christmas day in Charlotte. From Charlotte, Charles Huey and Miss Redmon went to Atlanta, Ga. where they visited Miss Redmon's brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cody, and family, returnine to Marshall on Sunday. Lynn "Butch" Sams, of New York City, is spending the holidays here with his mother, Mrs. Eva Sams.
