Marshall Girls Defeated
In Tournament
Nebo and Robbinsville
received the scares of their
lives but survived last quarter
rallies to turn back Murphj
and Marshall in the District 8
Girls Basketball Tournament
at Roberson High Tuesday
night. In the opener Nebo
edged Murphy, 42-39, and in
the nightcap time ran out on a
desperation surge by the Lady
Tornadoes of Marshall as
Robbinsville won, 33-31.
Shirley Jackson and Lucille
Brown set the pace as Rob
binsville built up a 30-16 ad
vantage in the first three
periods as a back court press
forced numerous turnovers.
In the final stanza, however,
Marshall quickly gained the
initiative and was back in the
running with four minutes left
when Kathy Tipton hit two
baskets and a free throw to cut
the edge to 30-24. When
Carolyn Davis made a steal
and scored the Robbinsville
edge was two, 30-28, with 3:15
remaining.
Margaret Jenkins hit a free
throw for Robbinsville with 3
minutes left to make it 31-28
but Debbie Mayhew retaliated
with a field goal to cut it to 31
30 with 2:45 left.
With a minute remaining
Robbinsville made a steal and

FOOD FOR THOUGHT
Sugar Campbell says :
Be thrifty lay by a little
sunshine for a rainy day.
Some people go out of their
way just to get their own.
Criticism should be like
charity let it begin at home.
Past errors are the wisdom
and success of the future.
Give it time and hush money
is sure to blab all its secrets.
Lean on others and the
leaner your chances are for
success.
Common sense is a
trademark that requires no
registration.
Dont despair the less you
have, the more there is to get.
Folks who raise objections
are always sure of a bumper
crop.
The best way to lengthen
your life Is to shorten your
worries.
