A native of Madison County and a farmer, Mr. PhiUlpe was a veteran of World War I. He was a member of Sexton Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a Sunday School teacher aand deacon. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Clots Ramsey Phillips three daughters, Mrs. Brown Norton and Mrs. Lester Clark of Marshall and Mrs. William Clark of Asheville; seven sons, Glenn of Weaverville, Willie of Jefferson City, Mo., Levi of Brevard, Dewey, Fred and James of Marshall and Edward Phillips of Asheville; three sisters, Mrs. James Penis nd of Asheville, Mrs. Hsrley Fisher of Esst Sparta, Ohio and Mrs. James Craft of Waterford, Pa.; 29 grandchildren and three greatgrandchildren. Services were held at 2:30 p.m. Thursday of last week in Sexton Free Will Baptist Church. The Revs. Jack Jones, J.J. Slagle and Ebb Jenkins of ficiated. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were grandsons and nephews. Bowman-Duckett Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. MRS. FANNIE RICHER Mrs. Fannie Laws on Ricker, 74, of Hot Springs, died unexpectedly in her home Saturday, Nov. 4, 1972. Surviving are the husband, Adley H. Ricker; three daughters, Mrs. Alma Owens of Rosman, Mrs. Gladys Frisbee of Brevard and Mrs. Iona Frisbee of Hot Springs; four sons, Reeves of Brevard, Burlin and Charlie Ricker of Hot Springs and Dean Ricker of Greenville, S.C.; four sisters, Mrs. Talmadge Price, Mrs. Bonnie Goode, Mrs. Philman Gregg and Mrs. Lillie Potete of Hot Springs; a brother, Fred Lawson of Hot Springs; 18 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in Fairy iew United Methodist Church. The Rev. Baxter Proffitt officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. BUCK TWEED Buck Tweed, 60, of Rt. 3 Marshall, died Thursday afternoon, Nov. 2, 1972, in an Erwin, Term., hospital after a lengthy illness. He was a lifelong resident of Madison County and fanner in the Laurel section. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Annie Cantrell Tweed; a son, Arvil Tweed of Try on; a daughter, Mrs. Frances Sexton of Asheville; a sister, Mrs. Usley Sams of Virginia; and a grandchild. Services were held at 3 p.m. Saturday in the chapel of Bowman-Duckett Funeral Home. The Rev. Champ Rice of ficiated. Burial was in Sams Cemetery.
