DR. R. BRUCE SAMS, chairman of the Madison
County board of commissioners, former member
board of education, member Madison County
Welfare Board, former Mayor of Mars Hill and
popular Mars Hill dentist, was honored Monday
afternoon in the courthouse lobby for his outstanding
service. Monday's meeting of the commissioners
was his last since he is not seeking reelection. Top
photo shows Zeno Ponder, chairman of the county
Democratic Executive Committee, presenting Dr.
Sams with a trophy. Looking on is Mrs. Sams.
