' 1 Page I i Thursday, June ?, 1973 The News-Record Miss Nancy Treadtvay Is Bride Of Norris Alton Cody i .v. a i "if Miss Nancy Ann Treadway of Route 3, Mars Hill became the bride of Norris Alton Cody at 6 p. m. Saturday in the California Creek Church, Mars Hill The Rev Hubert Holt performed the double nng ceremony The bride is the daughter of Mrs Blanch Walker of Route 1 Marshall. The bride groom is the son of Mr and Mrs. Clarence Cody of Route 3, Mars Hill The church was decorated with ferns, baskets of white Klads, carnations and daisies and candelabra A program of wedding music was presented by Mrs. Charles Carter, organist; and Miss Julia Moore, vocalist. Mrs. Carter played a medly of wedding music prior to the ceremony and used the traditional wedding marches for the processional and recessional. Miss Moore sang "Whither Thou Goest" prior to the ceremony and "The Wedding Prayer" as a benediction. Given in marriage by Er nest Cody, the bride wore a lacy Victorian gown of organza with a Cluny lace bodice and ruffled flounce hemline. Her chapel-length mantilla was of silk illusion edged with matching lace and she carried a cascade bouquet of white carnations with streamers and centered with an orchid. Miss PennyHouston of Marshall was maid of honor. She wore a full-length Empire gown of creme orchid polyester crepe with organza trim, a matching picture hat, and carried a colonial bouquet of daisies and carnations. Miss Claudia Ball of Mar shall and Mrs. Terry Wyatt of Mars Hill, sister of the bridegroom, were bridesmaids They were dressed like the honor at tendant. Tammy Cody of Mars Hill was flower girl and David Phillips was ring bearer. Larry Cody of Mars Hill was best man. Terry Wyatt, brother-in-law of the bridegroom; and Myron Cody, brother of the bridegroom, both of Mars Hill, were ushers. A reception followed at the home of the bride. Mrs. Tom Wallin cut the wedding cake and Mrs. Steve Willis served punch. They were assisted by Mrs. Bud Edsal. Mrs. Carter played wedding music during the reception. Mrs. Cody is a graduate of Marshall High School and is ow employed by the Wolf Laurel Resort Restaurant. Her husband is a graduate of Asheville - Buncombe Technical Institute and is employed by Ball Brothers Co. in Asheville He served two years in the Army and was stationed in Germany. Following a wedding trip to Florida, the couple will live in Mars Hill Mrs. Donald Harrell directed the wedding. " if ; t . PAT EDWARDS, who took top honors in the Hubert Hayes Mountain Youth Jamboree when she was seven years old, is all grown up now and has her own television show in Tampa, Fla. She is the wife of Dr. Nick Colmenares. She is the daughter of the late Kenneth Edwards of the Bull Creek section of Madison County and has many relatives in this county. Miss Ramsey Gets Award Miss Anissa Ramsey, a second year Radiologic Technology student at Greenville TEC, recently received the second place award for a scientific exhibit display at the S. C Society of Radiologic Technologists annual convention. Miss Ramsey will graduate from the Radiologic Technology Program In August. Miss Stanley, Mr. Go forth Are Married Miss Patricia Ann Stanley, daughter of Mrs. Dorothy Stanley, of Asheville and Robert Goforth Jr., son of the late Robert Goforth were married in a simple ceremony in Marshall on Monday, June 4. Jackie Ball, magistrate, performed the ceremony. They are now making their home with Mr. Goforth's grandmother, Mrs. Mary Etta Goforth of Route 3, Marshall. L Proffitt-Cro tvder Vows Spoken In Weaverville The wedding of Miss Teresa Ann Crowder of Weaverville and Larry Wayne Proffitt of Mars Hill took place at 4 p.m. Sunday in Locust Grove Baptist Church in Weaverville with the Rev. Clell Fisher conducting the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Crowder of Weaverville and the bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Proffitt of Mars Hill. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an Empire gown of bridal satin overlaid with silk organza and trimmed in Alencon lace. Her veil and chapel length train of silk illusion, trimmed in Alencon lace, were attached to a cap of Alencon lace. Miss Patricia Diane Williams of Alexander was maid of honor and dressed in a long Empire style dress of yellow brocade satin with matching bow of gold. She carried a bouquet of bronze and yellow poms anbd daisies. Miss Christine Proffitt of Mars Hill, sister of the bridegroom; and Miss Karen Sue Payne of Weaverville were bridesmaids. They wore gowns and carried bouquets similar to that of the maid of honor. Teresa Lynette Rice of Marshall, cousin of the bride, was flower girl. She wore a floor-length Empire style dress of green satin with matching headpiece and carried a basket of bronze and yellow poms and daisies. Eugene Revis of Weaver ville, cousin of the bride, was ring bearer. Mike Franklin of Morganton, cousin of the bridegroom, was best man. Ushers were Lawrence Crowder and Eugene Crowder of Weaverville, brothers of the bride. A reception was given at the home of the bride following the ceremony. Mrs. Kenneth Rice and Mrs. Joe Rice of Marshall and Mrs. Stanley Rice of Asheville assisted. Mrs. Proffitt is a graduate of North Buncombe High School and Mr. Proffitt is a graduate of Mrs. Hill High School. He is a company clerk in the U. S. Army stationed at Fort Campbell, Ky. The couple will live in Kentucky for three months then return to Weaverville where they will make their home. Moore-Th omason The marriage of Miss Elizabeth Irene Moore and Robert Jack Thomason were solemnized here at 4 p. m. Saturday in Edenton Baptist Church, with the Rev. Robert E. Gray officiating. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wendell Moore. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Arthur Thomason of Mars Hill Rt. 1. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a gown of ChantiUy lace and silk organza with chapel train bordered in lace and a chapel length lace mantilla Miss Frances Keir of Wallace was maid of honor, wearing a long mint green silk organza dress with lace bodice, with a shoulder-length white lace mantilla. Bridesmaids were Miss Alease Speight Moore, sister of the bride and Miss Lucille Thomason and Miss Wilma Thomason, both of Mars Hill, sister of the bridegroom. Their dresses were like that of the maid of honor. Miss Derise Thomason of Mars Hill was Junior attendant. The bridegroom's father was best man. Ushers were J. D. Thomason, brother of the bridegroom; Robert Wendell Moore Jr., brother of the bride, Gary T. Wilde and Forrest Ponder. A reception followed. The bride is a 1973 graduate of Mars Hill College, with a bachelor of science degree in physical education and health. The bridegroom is a graduate of Mars Hill High School and is employed by Mars Hill College as supervisor of physical education equip ment The couple will live in Mars Hill.
