A native of Madison County and a resident of Buncombe County for 40 years, be was a retired mechanic and a member of Woodlawn Hills Baptist Church. He was a son of the late John Wlllard and Melvinie Reed Hensley. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Lou Ella Hensley; five daughters, Mrs. Mildred Blevins of Baltimore, Md., Mrs. Irene Perkins of Greensboro, Mrs. Kathleen Hoopers of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Betty Edenington of Knoxville, Term, and Mrs. Darline Valenzuela of Santa Ana, Calif.; three sons, Ernest D., Guy Furman and Anthony G. Hensley of Asheville; two sisters, Mrs. Bonnie Garrison of Candler and Mrs. Gail Medford of Asheville; a brother, Robert Hensley of Detroit; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home.
