Rabies Clinics Tuesday The Madison County Health Department will be holding three rabies clinics in the county next Tuesday as follows: Mars Hill School, 10 a.m. to 12 noon. ^ Walnut School, 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Madison County Health Dept., 3: IS p.m. to 5: IS p.m. There will be a qualified veterinarian conducting these clinics and everyone is urged to bring their dogs and cats to the clinic in their area to be vaccinated against rabies. A fee of $3 per animal will be charged. Some eaters like their green peppers peeled, cooked and marinated with oil and vinegar. Bailey The newly remodeled 6 room cabin owned by Mrs. Marie Clark was destroyed by fire Monday evening about 6:30 p.m. The cabin, located on Route 1, Marshall, was the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fit zgerald who had recently moved there. Cause of the fire is unknown. Mr. and Mrs. Fitzgerald were uninjured but the cabin and all its contents were destroyed. The original cabin was the birthplace of Jesse James Bailey, of Asheville, former sheriff of Madison County. WITH THE SICK James Allen of Marshall, a member of Madison High School faculty, is a patient in Memorial Mission Hospital where he underwent surgery Tuesday morning. Mrs. Dewey Blake has returned to the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. S. L. Nix of Mar shall, from St. Joseph's Hospital. Summer Program A summer program in in structional media for teachers and librarians will be offered July 11 through 16 at Western Carolina University. The program, which carries three quarter hours of un dergraduate or graduate credit, will include workshops in the production of overhead transparencies, slides and fUmstrips; still photography and audio recording techniques for slide presen tations; lettering techniques; selection and operation of equipment; and use of television equipment and video taping. WILLIAM QUINN and husband, of Cape Canaveral, Fla., escaped tragedy a few days ago when the rented sailboat they were riding in on the Banana River capsized three times. Mrs. Quinn, the former Geneva Massey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cardell Massey, of Marshall, swam about a half a mile to shore but Quinn remained with the boat which was towed in. Buckner of Route 4, all of Marshall, were among Western North Carolina students named to the dean's list at Western Carolina University, Cullowhee, for the 1975-76 winter quarter. To be eligible for the dean's list students must earn a grade point average of at least 3.0 on a scale of 4.0 Bicentennial Council April 22, the Greater Mars Hill Bicentennial Council held a quarterly community meeting at the Mars Hill Elementary School cafeteria at 7:30 p.m. with Frederick Anderson, president, presiding. A caldendar of events was discussed in detail with plans being made to continue to circulate this throughout the community. It was the purpose of the meeting to discuss the beautification and community development projects. HARLEY JOLLEY Jolley Accepts Chairmanship N.C.L.H. Asso. Dr. Harley E. Jolley, with the department of history at Mars Hill College, has ac cepted the position as membership chairman for the North Carolina Literary and Historical Association for the college campus and this area. The major state literary and historical competitions are conducted by the association with winners announced each fall at the annual meeting held during Culture Week in Raleigh. The North Carolina Literary and Historical Association is working with I several other groups in terested in putting more emphasis on the study of history in the public schools.
