Mrs. C. B. Wells Services for Mrs Rhoda Ball Wells, 83, of 26 Swannanoa Ave., Asheville, who died Feb. 3 were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Groce Funeral Chapel The Rev. Ben Sutton and the Rev. Robert E. Harris of ficiated. Burial was in Green wits Cemetery. Nephews were pallbearen. A native of Madison County and an Asheville resident for 27 yean, Mn. Wells was a daughter of the late James and Celia James Ball She attended Evangelical Methodist Church. Surviving are the husband, Cicero B. Wells; three sisten, Mn. Sarah Goldsmith of Asheville, Mn. J. E. Stevens of Raleigh, Mn. Wade Ponder of Hot Springs; a brother, J. H. Ball of Spartanburg, S. C. ; and several nieces and nephews. O. J. Robinson Sasiiinn frr Oatbar Jamas Robinson, 86, of Bennett Road, Candler, who died Feb. 3 in an Asheville hospital after a neriod of declining health, were held at U a.m. Saturday in Glady Baptist Church of Robinson, J. R. and Richard Madford and Paul Motes Honorary pallbearers wore members of the Man's Bible Class of the church. A native of Madison County ?mi a son of the late James Gaither and Ella Penland Robinson, he was a Navy veteran of World War II and former owner-operator of Robinson's Garage. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Isabell Benjamin Robinson; a daughter, Mrs. Loreoe Medford of Charlotte; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Tathara of Andrews and Mrs. Mary Ponder of Canada; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. George Henderson George Howard Henderson, 47,ofTaylor, Mich., died Feb. 1 in a Michigan hospital after a long illness. He was a native of Madison County. Surviving are his wife, Linda E.; a stepdaughter; two daughters, Debra Wayne of Taylor and Margret Beasly of Wyandotte, Mich.; and a granddaughter ; two brothers, William W. of Charlotte and Calvin E. of Rock Hill, S. C.; and a sister, Jeanette Plem mons of Walnut. Services were held at Howe Peterson Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, Feb. 3. Burial was at Michigan Memorial Park. Junior Burton "Little Doc" Treadway, SB, of 1401 Milton St., Spring Lake, died Friday after a long Illness. A native of Madiaon County, he waa retired from the U. S. Air Force. Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Jackie Treadway, who ia the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Payne of Marshall; a son, Jody Treadway of the home; a daughter, Mrs. Linda Galvin of Spring Lake; the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Garfield Treadway of Weaverville; three brothers, James Treadway of Marshall, Harold Treadway of Marion and Everett Treadway of Louisiana; two sisters, Mrs. Thelma Riser and Mrs. Katie Frye of Weaverville; and the maternal grandmother, Mrs. Geneva Edwards of Marshall Services were at 2 p.m. Monday at Central Baptist Church in Spring Lake. The 1 Rev. William Hall and the Rev. Macon Wood officiated. Burial was in LaFayette Memorial Park in Fayetteville with full military rites. In Service Army Specialist Four Larry A. Carson, son of Mrs. Foral Barnette of Mars Hill, recently was presented the Good Conduct Medal in Hanau, Germany. The medal, established in 1M1, is awarded on a selective basis for those who distinguish themselves from among their fellow military personnel through exemplary conduct, efficiency and fidelity during their active military service. Spec. Carson received the award while assigned as a heavy vehicle operator in Headquarters and Light Maintenance Company, 122nd Maintenance Battalion of the 3rd Armored Division in Hanau, Germany. The specialist entered the Army in September, 1973. Methodists Increase Membership United Methodists of the Western North Carolina Conference have halted a nearly seven-year decline in membership with a net gain of 115 members in 1976. The Rev. Olin B. Isenhour of Statesville, statistican for the conference, said membership as of Dec. 31, 1976, totaled 276,757, a net jump of 115 members. The decline began after the Annual Conference showed a record membership of 383,006 as of May 31, 1970. (The con ference later moved to a calendar year for financial and membership statistics). Largest increases in the 14 districts of the conference were those of a net 133 mem bers each in the Northeast District, headed by the Rev. Cecil MarceUus of Madison and in the Winston-Salem District, headed by Dr. D. Edwin Bailey of Winston Salem. < Two other districts showed net Increases of more than 100 members ?
